I used Milky Spore for controlling grasshoppers many years ago, it worked really well. I didn't have hoppers for a good number of years after that. I quit gardening a couple of years after using it and will only now have another garden this year se we may have to get some more.

For killing bugs with dish soap, nothing works better than Dawn. I have done professional honey bee removals in Wichita for almost fifteen years and had a need for 'cleaning up' stragglers after the job was done. I tried a number of different soaps, but Dawn was the best.

Never knew milky spore worked on grasshoppers! Nice to know, if I ever don't have birdies anymore. Way it is I can't keep the peas away from my neighbors because he has a ton of them. Problem is very unsociable neighbor in between.
The one loves the fact they eat his bugs.

I got the duck pond pumped out cleaned and refilled. It wasn't a very warm day to play in the water for sure. Then I went out to the building and did the very first crimp on the water line. I had everything all planned out but then it got cold and now I have to go read some more to refresh my memory on the plumbing. I sure hope I don't have leaks at least with the first set up of it.
I am really wishing I had put plumbing in the floor and found a way to get wood to run a water system in it for warmth. That concrete feels pretty darned cold when you walk around on it for a while.
Okay looks like I'll be looking for milky spore for my garden. It'd be great not to have to fight those squash bugs. Now if I could find something to get rid of the mice I'd be happy.

Your telling me! I did some pruning and cleaning on my indoor plants just ot get my fingers dirty. I am so ready for growing things again!

If you are using pex, it is super easy to fix leaks. Do you have crimpers yet? I have an extra crimper I don't need. If we had known that we were going to install a wood boiler we would have put pex in the floor of the shop.

We can still use the wood heat, it is just another kind of apparatus, kind of like a big radiator with a fan behind it, so I guess all is not lost.

I have a concrete floor in the brooder house and use wood chips on the floor. It is warmer, sops up the poo, and softens the landing from the roost.

You may want to stop feeding those cats so much, maybe they will start chasing mice?

Well all of this talk about Oregano Oil & now I'm going to have to get some to try on my birds. I would be interested in knowing what all it is good for, I guess I'll do some reading. I had planned on getting some essential oils anyway so I'll just add Oregano to my list. It would be great if we had a list of things like that for treating our birds. It would be a good resource.

I was gone till later afternoon today & went out to bring up the sheep & goats & feed them when I got back. The one all white ewe, Milk looks like she is getting closer to having her lamb or lambs. I can't wait to see what she has, I just hope all goes well since she will be a first time mom. She is standoffish with people so she doesn't let me touch her unless I surprise her while she's eating & then she moves away. The other ewe is the friendly one but she was played with as a lamb by the lady's kids I got her from.

Trisha, you might also add nutmeg oil to your list too. Only as a topical, never internal on nutmeg but it's a wonderful painkiller for muscle aches etc. I do sometimes use it for earaches as well but mix with olive oil.

Oregano on other hand you can take orally.
