We're currently in Bonner Springs, but will be in Tonganoxie by the end of October. Just started a small flock and are so excited!

Welcome!

We're getting some crazy weather here! MUCH cooler today (high in the upper 30's, which we reached first thing this morning). It's sleeting right now - enough to start turning the ground white.

Welcome back home. I'm about an hour and a half from you. Not a bad drive for this part of the country. Tell us about your new flock and show us pictures if you have them. Feel welcome to join in and talk about anything or ask questions.

It feels like winter has returned. Cold wind and non stop rain again. Enough please! It's too nasty out to do much of anything. At least we haven't gotten sleet!!!
I had to force myself to do the very minimum of chores around here today. The yard was already a lake and it's more so now. Geese and ducks are loving it. The rest of the critters....not so much.

Danz, the insurance can cut you a check and you can still keep the truck. I work with insurance everyday and know some of their tricks.with a small bit of money you can buy a front cut of another truck and swap the parts

It's snowing here now - great big snow flakes! Weird weather - that's for sure! I went out to do chores and came back in soaked! My little guy was out with me. He was wearing his overalls AND a heavy coat. By the time we came back in, his overalls were soaked through and his jeans were wet as well. Wet and cold! Chickens aren't so thrilled and the ducks and geese are just mad I didn't let them out to play in any puddles they could find. They tend to wander from puddle to puddle and leave the yard without ever noticing. Silly birds!

Thanks. The problem of course would be finding a front that isn't damaged. We've been down that road before with other vehicles and not had a lot of luck. Of course we've just looked at junk yards. Where would you find a cut front?
DH got the hood open and the air cleaner was smashed in half and pressed against the carborator. The stuff (I forgot what he called it) or the framework below the windshield is all crushed in as well. Other than that it seems to be mostly body work. As he said he just spent all that money getting the work done on the front end so I don't think he's willing to give it up.

Quote: I'm sure glad I'm not living there. It felt like winter to me yesterday and tomorrow is supposed to be much worst than yesterday. We got more rain last night. I'm afraid to even look at what is wet and drowned now. I think this is one of mother nature's cruel jokes!!! I feel so sorry for the birds with their muddy runs and no escape from the mud. It'd be really awesome if I could let them all out to free range.
I guess this is a reminder to continue to danzsize some.
I say that, cause I am working on a deal to get some SQ black langhans which will be my newest addition. I've been working on that since around January. It's a very slow process to get quality birds that you can count on being top notch. I'm trying to open pens but also looking for something unique which I think might sell.
I'm certifiably crazy for sure.

We haven't gotten any sleet or snow over here, just so much rain and some hail early this week. Luckily we have yet to transplant our starts into our garden! I'm afraid all the little plants would have died, hopefully we warm up next week! Here it is end of April and it feels like October!
We only have room now for 6 ladies. So we got a few we weren't able to get at the Farm store in Iowa. We have 2 americaunas, 1 barred rock, 1 speckled Sussex and 2 buff orpingtons! They are all so gorgeous, doing very well and eating out of my hand.
