Consolidated Kansas

Send me a PM and I will get you the name of a guy in KS that raises pheasants, plus a lot of other birds. I don't think he posts on this forum so don't want to put his name on it.....

Just found this thread new member to the forum scene I got smartphone cause computer service is so shotty here. I'm in North Central KS closest town of much size is Salina. this is a pretty darn nice place, though I have not been here long myself (not a full week yet) I have found everyone to be most helpful and open with information. Wonderful change of pace to so many of the other forums I participate.

Chickies-duckies-etc, you have an incoming PM, thank you for the information in advance.

Same in eastern KS. The wind is so strong the chickies have been hiding out in their coop all day except when I take them veggies. If feels like a hot March.

I live in a berm (underground) house. This picture is of a Nebraska soddy from the 1800's that I swiped from the Texas Park and Wildlife website. It doesn't adequately represent my house, though.

this is my home, we have earth on all but one side and all of the roof except the garage. Very energy efficient and comfortable (quiet in the wind, too).

this picture was taken when we finished the rennovations about 5 years ago. It was originally built in the 1980's.

I wasn't complaining about Kansas I have lived here all my life. And your right for the most part people here are very helpful and we try do help where we can when we can. I believe that a lot of that goes back to the ruralness. You know back when neighbors got together to cut wheat or fill the silo or even butcher some hogs or whatever. That is my oldest memory was when we would butcher with my cousins in the fall and all the neighbors would come over and help. Those are some good memories.
