Consolidated Kansas

I did another search on DE and found this source with what looks like a pretty good price. Here's a link. I'm sharing this with a couple friends at church and if they're interested we might get a better price ordering together. Better yet get one 50# bag to split and see what we think. I want to use it for my chickens bedding/litter but I'm super interested in what people are saying it's done for them personally when taken internally. Check it out if you haven't already. I am impressed and VERY interested.

Oh dang I knew if I didnt go to that auction since I didnt have any extra money this week, there would be a bunch of call ducks-I really need some girls, too many drakes and not enough girls but at least my boys arent fighting (yet?) oh well. CarolAnn I dont know about the people on the Kansas thread but there are a bunch of threads on DE and so many people saying its not worth the money, you cant breath the dust so you need a mask-etc. I really wanted to try some too but other BYCr have talked me out of it so I would love to hear if it is working for anyone around here-the other BYCr say with too much moisture like from this super wet year we are having it doesnt work at all since it has to be dry to work. I have never used it and I really dont like using any kind of chemicals so I would love to know if it or something else organic works-I swear these bugs have all grown to tropical size outside this year lol. I use to have a license to spray chemicals professionally when I worked as a landscaper but after getting so sick 2 years in a row from SAFE???(approved) chemicals I am really scared of them-I really only try to use organic stuff when ever I can

I think the problem is that people misunderstand the value of DE. It doesn't exactly kill pests, it just prevents them from getting started. If you already have mites, it won't help. If you don't have mites, they will be deterred and discouraged from growing.

I use it in the chicks bedding (wood shavings). I have no way of knowing if it is working, but after an hour of ranging in my yard, they all go in and "dust" bathe in the shavings. When I make them a dust bath (dirt, sand, grit, ashes, DE), they pile in that too. I'm not sure of the value, but they seem to like the stuff. Plain shavings don't seem to attract them as much.

I have read that people should eat it to cleanse themselves and all kinds of crazy stuff-it makes since for dust baths and as a preventive, just if you read all the companies who sell the food grade DE they make so many claims that it does so many more things then that-Im just so confused
