Did the JF county police get there quickly? Me living in the town where the police station is some times it takes 45 minutes for them to get to me.

It took over two hours for them to show up.

and really all they said was "What do you want us too do? Its a chicken"
AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHGGGGG.
man this urks me. Btw they also shot a neighbors cat in the jaw most likly it will die.
the part that makes me the madest is when I walked to my door all I seen was a person in a black jacket pointing a gun what i thought was at me scared the hell out of me.

Of course I am sorry for your loss Daren. Darin is sorry too.

I do recomend you write a full description of the individuals and the event very soon and save it to your computer. Or notebook. Kids discharging a rifel in a highly populated area have not been supervised well in the past. They will do this again. Also you may see these kids in the area in the future. If they are with their parrents you can get liscense plates and car descript. The sherif then can do something. Just some thoughts.

What do you want us to do? It's just a chicken. THat is one of the most unprofessional statements I've heard recently. It's criminal damage to your personal property. It's probably unlawful discharge of a firearm, and use of a firearm to commit a crime. There's a lot they can do!

I hope they find the little #@$@#$%#!

Man I'd be beside myself if something like that happened here. Bad enough our neighbor's dog killed almost all my first batch of chicks ( the owner had him put down so we didn't have to shoot him ourselves), but to have someone shoot them!! I'm sure sorry to hear it and sure hope the criminal is caught.

Okay fellow Kansans, I am looking for some advice. I have a 10 9 week old chicks - nicely feathered. Are they too young to move out to an unheated coop in the cold? They have been going out and playing during the day and coming in at night to the garage (insulated, not heated, but they have a heat lamp). Could also put a heat source or light in the coop for warmth at night...

They just enjoy the outside and hate coming in! Thanks for the input...

I have 25 chicks that were hatched on Oct 26. I moved them out into an unheated uninsulated coop about 5 weeks ago BUT I did keep a heat lamp for them "on" for the first few weeks untill I seen that they were useing the roost more after that I turned off the heat and called it good. Its been a couple weeks now and there doing great. Be sure to keep there water heated some how!
