Beautiful weather we're having so.. better take advantage of it.. lol..

tntblake- aww.. they both are so adorable!.. i'm glad they had a blast. lol pumpkin guts.. i wish they have the pumpkin mark down lower so i can get a few for pumpkin pie and feed my babies (chickens) some pumpkin guts.. but.. speghettis isnt so bad for a treat.

I was out shopping notice.. all holloween stuff and load of candies are mark down 50 percent off.. but.. not the pumpkins.. dang it..

I have two Barred Rock hens & yes they are the "bossy" ones of the coop. They aren't really mean so to speak, just want to be the top hens in the pecking order. They are good layers though.

Hope you are able to get the things done you need to do. I am trying to get some canning jars back out to the storage area in the big barn, and want to get some pictures up on here, may not get either one finished, the wind will blow you hair off you head here. At least the temp is warm.

really like your barn! Really cute, sounds like you have lots of time in on it. I hope to get a new barn in the spring, and it will be very nice, with a work room for my incubators and hatchers, and brooders! Oh hurry spring!

Yeah, I know, that is all I have is cute, but you brought back the blue/red pullets that you did not need, so I felt it was only fair to send home something you could and wanted to use. Besides I knew those two baby girls would have a wonderful home, and that is the main thing. You should get some very good babies from them. Hi Sis!

I just came in from outside. We got everything moved back into the barn.

Mike moved my cages I built with the skidsteer, and I got all the pens built for the large birds. It feels good to have that much done. I feel like I've taken over his barn, though. I'm ready for that new poultry barn too!

I was looking at the little rosecomb roo I got at Sedalia. I don't think he's any better than the one I got that you hatched. It's hard to tell for sure, though. The new guy has a lot of maturing to do yet.

We moved so much stuff around in the barn I don't think my broody leghorn is going to stay broody. Unfortunately we disturbed her a lot today. My 3 new BCM chicks are on their way to their new home. I hope they do well.

They seemed very robust and healthy.

For anyone building coops or runs, get some zip ties! I can't believe I had never discovered these handy little things until recently. They work so nice and fast for fastening a lot of things, but especially for the netting over the run. I now keep a fairly large supply in my "chicken box" in all different colors. They even work great for temporary legbands... and they are cheap!

I'm not sure if I told this story or not, but I have a golden lakenvelder rooster that was in the brooder with some guineas. He now thinks he's a guinea. All the guineas follow him around like he's the pied piper, and I even saw him trying to mate with a guinea hen the other day. Boy, wouldn't that make a funny looking chicken? Funky chicken, for sure!

All the birdies are doing well, and the new guys have seemed to adapted well without much stress. I think since we've done some more work on the barn it's going to be a lot nicer for them in there this winter than what it was last year. I don't think I lost any to the cold, but it was a wonder. Maybe we won't have such a dreadfully cold winter this year.

I've been out plumbing and carpentering all day long. I have so much more to do. I got everything stained I planned on. And at least I have all the plumbing done for the manadarin set up and the house that the filter sits in set up and ready to go. It was a lot bigger job than I anticipated. I still have to move rocks and stuff along the base of the aviary for protection. I never got to the Serama house today or the bantam polish house. I guess I'll have to get in gear early in the morning, bundle up and make things happen. I hope to fill the pond tomorrow and hang at least part of the nest boxes. Sure would be nice to get those birds moved. I thought I would today but like always I far underestimated the time it would take to do this work. It would have been a great day to have some help. Oh well!
Gotta get back out there and get things rounded up for the night.

Thanks guys! I got more stuff done on the coop-- getting closer!! I started building the last set of doors, put up trim and got hardware on. I had to stop because we had allergy shots and piano to go to back in town. Blah. I was on a roll. I got the locks for the windows, so now they don't blow in the wind.

I'm so bummed that tomorrow is going to be cold and possibly rainy! I'm going to still try to do as much as I can anyway- I need to get the last set of doors finished.

Danz and Ivy- sounds like you two were working hard today too!! WooHoo!! It was a fabulous day to be out there! It was REALLY windy, though. But at least it was warm enough.

checoukan, YIKES- 500 round bales?! Whew, that's a lot of cattle! I ordered my hay back in July and STILL have not gotten it! I'm getting super annoyed with my hay guy. (he keeps promising I'm next on his list to deliver--- yeah, right!) My first order was supposed to only be 8 round bales. And it was shipped in, too- which made it $80 a bale!! Last year, I paid $35 a bale. I'm really hating this drought.

Crazy day! I'm beat but I still need to go grain horses, and shut up the barn and bring in Seymore.
