TNT, I think that would be great, I'm already a member of several local groups for other things, but the chicken swap for Kansas would be wonderful so we could find out who might have something available & where they are. I agree though you need to make it where people have to join, so you would need at least two admins. I would be willing to help on that if you want because it can get kind of hectic at times with people asking to join & such. We wouldn't need too many rules really on something like that.
Yeah I agree that the chicken feed is cheaper, but like IVY said when they start eating it they don't stop. I have to drive to the next town to get feed, so that's not something I want them doing & besides I buy them pretty good dog good, it's $35 for 40 pounds. I also try to get as grain free as I can with feeding all my dogs too because I have been reading that the grain really isn't that good for them & can cause them health problems. Dogs are meant to eat mostly meat, they're carnivores, so the grain isn't something they need. The by-products are not good for them either, so really you have to read dog food ingredients just like the people food labels to see what you're feeding your pets. If you don't even know what the ingredient is it probably isn't good for your pet. My little dogs in the house get expensive food, but they only eat very small amounts every day since they're so small. I have paid good money for these dogs & I'm not going to feed them cheap dog food.
On the Lily saga, today I gave both pups a big knuckle bone to keep them busy for awhile & so far they have stayed away from the coop. I have not had time to run to the hardware store to get anything to hook the panel on with as of yet, I may not have time today, but I need to make a feed run tomorrow anyway, so I could do it then. Right now I have the panel I cut just propped in the doorway with one end inside & one outside with cinder blocks holding it up inside & outside. They're pretty heavy, so it will be harder to move the panel unless they're really determined at it, in which case they probably could. I'm just hoping for today they will keep busy with the bones & forget the eggs & feed. The chickens have been eying that panel in the door of the run, some of them have figured it out, but not all yet. I got the frame kit for the one rabbit cage I got free & I need to work on getting the frame on this afternoon & putting the pan under it so I can clean up the mess those rabbits have made. I just had to kind of rig trays under there since that cage didn't have anything under it. My friend is coming hopefully this afternoon to pick up her rabbits so I can move rabbits around again. She has a lot more cage space than I do right now, so I'm glad she's coming to get hers. I was kind of aggravated that the feeders I ordered are on backorder, I was counting on those coming today, ugh I hope they come soon since I just am using what I could find around here right now to feed & water them with.
Thanks to everyone who has given me suggestions on the panel idea, I really appreciate it. Sometimes I can come up with things & other times not. I was about at my wits end though with trying to teach these dogs to stay out of there & getting nowhere. They really are hard-headed dogs. Jasmine has been the best behaved one, but I'm afraid now that Lily's behavior is somewhat rubbing off on her too. She had not been the one to jump on people & just the silliness that Lily has, but now Jas has started doing the jumping too & they both were running around acting crazy today. I don't know if it's because Jas is so glad that Lily is free today & not chained or penned up or what. I can hear them in the backyard right now barking at each other. They go at it at night when I put them in the pen & it sounds like they're going to kill each other. Anybody just hearing that commotion would think that's what was happening, but they go through it every night trying to get settled into the dog house. I don't know if they fight for a certain spot or what, but they sure do make a ruckus over it.
