Consolidated Kansas

Good luck with your ebay bid!

Well, DD was supposed to go back to school today but was in too much pain. I'm letting her stay home this morning since she just has band and weight training (which she can't participate in anyway due to her knee) and then I'll take her to school this afternoon for the important subjects. Hopefully that compromise will mean she isn't crying all night in pain tonight like she was last night.

Hawkeye - I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that Zorro's bath does the trick - great set of photos!

Trish - would love to see pics of your new brooder box.

There was no specific accident or injury - that's kind of the strange thing. She injured it when she was 8 and stretched out the ligament and it never fully recovered, so over the years she kept re-injuring it, doing innocuous little things like running and playing with her brother, jumping on the trampoline etc - the kind of things all kids are doing. At some point the meniscus got a little tear in and a piece of bone chipped off the head of the femur, which meant the patella (kneecap) wasn't held onto the femur like it should be so was essentially permanently dislocated. I know, ouch, right? So anyway, the surgery she had was to correct all of these issues - sew the kneecap to the muscle tissue below to hold it in place, repair the torn meniscus, remove the bone fragment etc. I'm not surprised she's in so much pain but it has apparently come as a surprise to her - I think she thought the prescription pain killers would completely relieve the pain - not just reduce it to barely tolerable levels.

Poor thing! I sure hope it doesn't get arthritic when she older. They do such amazing things with surgeries now, though.

My poor DH caught his boss falling off a 2 story, and he landed (with his boss on top) and smashed the poop out of his knees. It took 1.5 years after the surgery before he was completely good, but he reports success, and it has lasted over 15 years now. I hope hers werks even better!

Funny - his boss didn't have it and should have. Bruce had to get a lawyer, but he won and boss paid all the medical bilss including the care home for 9 monthes, plus he got an extra $30 G.

He is a good man, he really is, but his boss could have been a little more honest. You know how some folks are.

How old is she now?

Hey Trish, did you get that brooder box of of craigslist? If so, that looked really nice. I replied to the add and he sent me pics of it but that is when I decided to get the new shed instead. I want to see pics of it. The pics the guy sent were ok but phone pics are never as good as big ones on the computer.

I seem to have caught the crud that is going around. It started yesterday with a stuffy nose and sinus pain and overnight it settled in my lungs. I have never had a cold that moved to the lungs so quickly. I hope it goes away soon. I am exhausted and I just got up. I guess I won't be getting much done today.

So my husband and I have been throwing around the idea of moving for the last 6 months or so. I have been trying to convince him to wait until summer but I haven't been successful. So the Realtor is coming on Wed. to put the house on the market. This kind of messes up my plans for my chicks. I hate to get them and get everything set up here for them and then have to move them to another house. I can't wait until we move to get them because who knows how long it will take to sell the house. It just sounds like a hassle. Do you think it would bother people to see chickens in the backyard when they are looking at the house? It obviously wouldn't bother any of us but I wonder if it will turn buyers that don't have chickens off? I hate moving. It is such a pain to pack everything up and make sure the kids keep everything picked up and spotless so that it is ready for showings at anytime. Gosh, I'm a whiner today! It must be this cold.

I fianlly mangaged to change my Avatar! Now you can see 3 of my baby pekings, and 3 baby khaki cambells swimming in our tub!

tnt- I'm home sick today, if that helps. Get the chicks. LIfe goes on, and you'll want them to make you feel at home in the new home.
