Hawkeye, congrats on your new chick, yay! We want to see pics when it gets all dried & fluffy.
rvroman, cute chicks!
Josie, cute babies, so fuzzy!
Well I went into town but before I went I called the heating & air place that we always have do our work, they put in a whole new heating & air system for us last summer. Anyway, they had wood & pallets sitting out back of their place & I asked them what their plans were for it & they said I could have it. So I went & got enough good 2x4s for a pen & several good pallets & some other boards. & then one long piece that I thought I might be able to use by cutting it in half & then use it for the top of a pen. It hung way out of my truck when I was driving home, but I went the back way around town so I wouldn't call attention to myself. I didn't want to get in trouble for not having flags or things tied down because I just didn't want to mess with it. There was another side of a crate thing that I would have liked to have, but it was long also & too heavy for me by myself. I thought maybe I could talk my DH into going back with me Sunday afternoon maybe to get it It looks like it would be nice to also cut in half & use for sides of a pen or something. I hate leaving perfectly good wood sitting there that they will just haul to the dump. There were also a lot of 2x8s sitting under there that could be good for maybe a part of my new coop, I don't know. If I do get my DH to go back with me maybe we can get some of those too. Anyway, I came in for a rest & then I need to go back out & unload the truck & start pulling nails on some of the boards. I don't even mind pulling nails when the wood is free, heck who can pass up free wood. If I hadn't found that I was going to have to go buy wood. Free is much better! I will probably need more wire to cover it all, but after the free wood I should be able to afford that. My DH is going to look at my pile & think I have lost my mind when he comes home, but he doesn't visualize things like I do when I look at a pile of boards like that.
I had one more little Amerauacana hatch today, so there are now 3 of them in the hatcher. I candled the other eggs that are in there & I see movement in all but one & that one I can't see too well in. Most of these are EE eggs that I put in before. I probably won't hatch too many more of those, but for those people just wanting pretty eggs & colorful hens they're good for that. I have the 3 cuties in the brooder still that need new homes soon, they're growing so fast. I've got to get some pics of them today if I can. Well I'd better get back out there & get busy.
