You know, I wondered the same thing.OK.... Are those two roosters the same two Hawkeye was selling????
Congratulations - what an amazing achievement!Grand Champion Rosecomb pullet, Same pullet Overall Grand Champion
Its hot!!!
OH NO! I did wonder, since they were two white silkie roosters, so soon after you sold yours but then I looked at the price and thought "Surely not, Hawkeye sold them for $5 apiece, where on earth would they get off asking $40 for them".OMGosh!!!! THOSE ARE MY roosters!!!!! I sold them for $5 a piece-- they want $40??!! WTH!?!??!?!?!! Those poor boys!!!
So sorry about the hens. And isn't it always the way, that its the ones we most care about keeping that go the first?But... I lost two hens today as well. Found one while Josie was here and the other one just while ago. This d*(&*(($%^* heat!
I can't believe how grown up your hens are looking - it seems no time since you were sharing their day-old pictures with us. That ducky dance is very sweet. How old are they? My muscovies are 9 weeks old now but I don't really know how old maturity is in a duck.Ouch - I'm sorry that you are loosing so many birds Danz!
I took out the camera tonight and got some pics to share:

My Big girls! The all crowd around me when I'm out .
Now... Here's the funny stuff. I refreshed the pool and the ducks always immediately get in.
I've seen the first part of this behavior before and was going to tape it to see if anyone knew what was going on..
but as you'll see at the end of the video, I think my question was answered.![]()
Oh no!!!! I hoped it was purely coincidental!! No wonder you couldn't understand their correspondence in email... I apologize for laughing at their spelling. I sure dont see any humor in what they did with them. I wonder if they even know that they need to be fed!!! Poor babies! Trish, I am sorry you lost a chick. I have wondered what that kind of chick looks like. They sound extra unique :-( I hope you have more. Danz, I know your granddaughter will treasure the memories of her summer trip to see youQuote: OMGosh!!!! THOSE ARE MY roosters!!!!! I sold them for $5 a piece-- they want $40??!! WTH!?!??!?!?!! So pretty!!!! What is the white one with the black lines on her neck? My crew does the same thing. They must be at my feet. Makes it tough to walk doesn't itOuch - I'm sorry that you are loosing so many birds Danz!

This is Jade. The one that I'm wondering if he/she is a roo. Jade's the only one with the comb. These are the blues from Chooks, but Jade also has red/brown splotches.. you can see them in the second pic.

This is Amber, the previously splayed leg chick And this is Amethyst - she's a lot lighter in color than the other two.

She is a Delaware. They are very heat and cold hardy and fairly friendly - not as much as my barred rock or buff orpington, but not super skittish. I'm pretty sure it's one of the Delawares that is laying the egg.So pretty!!!! What is the white one with the black lines on her neck? My crew does the same thing. They must be at my feet. I can't remember the brand name but I get mine at Dillons. Maybe Hodgson Mill or something like that? It claims on the bag to be 100% whole grain. I also know a lady in Derby who grinds her own and I've bought several 5lb bags from her, freshly ground, for $3 a bag. I don't get to Derby all that often and its a long drive for flour, but when I know I will be there, I'll give her a call and stop by and get some. If you are ever going to be in Derby, PM me and I'll give you her contact info.
love all the pictures and i think I'm getting the silkie bug also they are so cute Josie i love the picture of the Silkie/cochin pullets i think they are super cute my son says "Mom i hope your not thinking about getting those kind of chickens they look like mini Sasquatches"
its another hot day when does it start to cool down here in kansas?
I think our Food For Thought and Whole Foods have whole grain flour... actually, I know they do. I just bought Rye flour the other day at the super Dillons-- they have everything there! I'm going to make rye bread and the flour is almost black! It's whole grain, that's for sure!![]()

Thanks. What makes me angry is that there is no food in that kennel. Poor things. Oh, I am steamed. FEED the dang roosters, people!!!
I just went out earlier to turn on the mister in the grow-out pen & found one of my little lavender Orp/porcelain Isabel chicks dead from the heat, awwhhh I just got those. I guess I'll have to get out there earlier tomorrow to turn the mister on. I've been working my tail off trying to get that other pen done so I can move the bigger chicks out of there & into that one. I'm hoping I can get the dirt moved into the holes & try to get them moved this evening. Even if they don't have a house in there right now I think they would be better off where they have more room. I can at least make them a roost so they can roost off the ground, but they will have to learn to use it first, they haven't had one as of yet. I'm hoping to score a free small dog house to put in there. I have seen several lately, but wasn't able to go get them.
We got the floor painted for the new coop this morning & as soon as I left the area Jasmine went & walked in the wet paint. I told my DH that I knew that they would do that as soon as I left. The other day after we had painted the primer on they walked all over it with muddy feet, so when my granddaughter was here Sunday she went out with grandpa & helped wash it off. She went home & told her mom that she now has a job helping grandpa with the coop. That got a laugh!
