I have 6 chicks in the brooder right now (2-4 weeks old) and there is one that’s being extremely loud. Constant peeping and louder than the rest. I checked them all up and down and noticed one had pasty butt so I cleaned her up, dried her off and put her back. I thought the problem was solved and the loudness would cease, I’m pretty sure she’s the loud peeper (Speckled Sussex). They have fresh water, food and a little treat to peck on. I don’t want anyone to be uncomfortable or in pain. Anything else this could be that I’m missing? They have their warmer set correctly and it isn’t too warm in the laundry room where they are. Thoughts?!

What does warmer set correctly mean? Do they have a cool area to go to?
They have a warmer in the brooder that’s set comfortably for all of them as far as I can tell and no one is huddling and they go under and come out as they please. They have a large, cooler area to go to and the room is well ventilated.

They might just be missing the feeling of a mother. You could buy a feather duster and place it on top of them.
I got a fluffy blanket and put it on top of the chick we helped, as soon as it felt a "body" on top with some weight, they calmed down.

Yes, they squawk often when cold, hungry etc.
Or its just their little personalities.
Also, are these mail ordered!?
They arrive traumatized, hungry, and dehydrated and this can cause pasty butt.
Jack them up on vitamin water for a month!

They’re all from a local lady and not mail order so they really don’t go through much trauma since it’s just a 45 minute ride home. I have a feeling this little ss is just going to be a spitfire because they are all good, but even during playtime, she’s the loudest!
