Constant Script error on Pc

Okay so what I have found.

Script only occurs on this website and only in safari.

Using the manual method to remove that virus I find nothing, none of its files are present in any of the steps.

Makes me think I don't have the virus, rather this website has been hacked or the adds that show are dodgy and it is trying to download it to my computer and my script blocker is stopping it.

Used to have my virus scanner go off constantly years ago from the paid advertisements on another forum as some of they were there to infect not advertise.

Thanks for the great discussion and troubleshooting (especially you @MeepBeep )!

We definitively take these potential issues very seriously and have escalated this to our tech team. They have replied that it's not a system wide problem, but they are still looking into it.

One thing I've found in my experience is that when it is a site-wide problem, we get hundreds of posts, emails, etc. from members and visitors having problems, so I'm hoping / expecting that it isn't across the entire site.

The URL error being posted is being injected by something on your computer, it's not on the site itself, it might be a new version of the Trojan that has been modified to hide better and thus you can't easily locate it...

Being a a browser Trojan it's common for it to infect only some browsers on the machine, not necessarily all... That is why it's only showing up in Safari, if it was on the site itself it would show up in all browsers on all computers... As I said maybe it's a new version of the Trojan and the instructions are thus outdated, did you try the automated removal tool I posted after the manual attempts failed?

Maybe a visit to Apple's official support forums is in order as they have a very strong and knowledgeable support community focused on OS X...

Here is a list of every URL call from this page(end of URL blurred as it might contain private data) the URL/domain you have listed is not called by this website, it's being injected by something on your machine and that cause has yet to be rooted out, but it lies on your machine...

Red are invasive ads, green on non-invasive ads... You might need to actually download it to view it full size and make it legible...

My question though is why does it not come up on any other site I visit and why am I not being redirected to sites which is what the virus does then? If I have the virus apparently I will get taken to its spam webpages, not happening. I can browse the net with no problems at all, until I come here.....

And no I haven't tried the automatic removal tool because I never click on download links until I've had a chance to check their authenticity. Can never be too careful!

As I said it very well might be a new variant of the Trojan and thus not acting the same as older documented versions, this is quite common... As for why it's on this site and not others is probably looks for a certain type of legit ad on a website to 'replace' with the spam/malware one, this site just happens to have the type of ad it likes to target and replace or one that triggers the malware into action... I'll bet if you visited several other similarly coded forums you would eventually find others that it pops up on as well...

The site I linked you to is a very legit long established antivirus company...

I'd never heard of that one. The link is to a Mac removal tool but I'm on a pc. A search in their free virus removal area by its name is coming up no results and I couldn't find the pc version of the other Mac page you linked. Argh........
