I've cleaned the pasty butt with warm water, applied vegetable oil, Vaseline, everything. It seems to be clean and clear and now I'm seeing the poor baby is crying and trying to poop so hard. It's heartbreaking to watch. What can I do? What should I feed it? I've been reading forums and haven't found anything besides yogurt. Anyone know what kind of yogurt? Please help, I'm scared to lose my first baby.

i know that any sort of plain yogurt (regular or greek) is ok... just not any artificially sweetened stuff
other than that i'm pretty new at this and am not sure what to do for pasty but i hope someone else can help you! good luck!

I cleaned his bottom with warm water but it was so dirty it was hard to get one hundred percent clean but enough that his vent wasn't blocked. Just about anything I read on the forums I'm trying. But he's constipated still. I don't know if that is a symptom of pasty butt or if that means that he's still not clear but he tries to poop and cries and you can see his butt enlarge. Sometimes he gets a tiny little bit out and I have to wipe it. He has drank a little bit and pecked at a piece here or there but not much. He basically stands in the corner under the heat lamp with his eyes close. Sometimes he ventures with the other three keets but mostly not. For the constipation I'm trying molasses in the water and yogurt. He took like a pin size amount of yogurt so I mixed it with his food but wasn't a huge hit with him. I don't know what else to do. It looks like he's in so much pain when he cries and tries to poop. It's heart breaking. And I feel like if I was more experienced I would be able to help him better. Any other tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I really hope that someone with more experience can help you that sounds so sad:( I really do hope that he gets better

Thank you :) and thanks for the suggestion of the Greek yogurt. I hadn't read that and wouldn't have thought about it not supposed to be artificially sweetened, so I really appreciate your help!

Also make sure if your chicks are getting anything other than starter food they need grit or they won't digest it... Good luck and keep posting updates!

Thank you for the help. I kept cleaning it with warm water and dabbing vegetable oil along with preph which I read was good. On Sunday evening he seemed to be getting better but yesterday was a bad day and he had passed away early this morning. :(

so sorry for your loss, hope you try again
