Construction of "The Pantry". Another Wacky Coop. (Pic Heavy)

thats a really cool coop, how did you make the roof look crooked?
cute chicks too!
The roof looks crooked because it actually is crooked! That was one of the tougher challenges that i have dealt with on this build. Bending the plywood and actually finding a stud can be quite frustrating. There are no 2 measurements that are the same on the roof.

So I was able to get a little more done today. I finished the door and got the poop boards and roost built.

A few more screws tomorrow will have it attached for the girls. I will be interested to see who gets the window view, although it is a little crooked! I will add some Sweet PDZ and chickens and it will start to feel like a home.

In oder to get the door a little sturdier I added a 1x4 to the inside for strength. I also added the 1x2 for the doorstop. It is propped open because I used spring hinges so I don't have to scold any of my kids for leaving the coop door open.

Completed door ready for trim.

Can anyone guess what i used to make the handle?

Tomorrow I will be working on nesting boxes and trim.

Looks like a tub faucet to me!

They have a fancy, good, roost bar! Mine would love if I put a branch inside for them.

The faucet is great reuse. I don't know if you have wasp issues there, but here I'd make sure it's filled in with some sort of material so it doesn't attract them as a nice spot to start a nest. Dang things keep thinking my vehicle mirrors are the best spot around.

Great Guess KDK1. I got a late start today so I was only able to complete the nesting boxes.

I am learning very quickly that anytime you build something that is not square you need to allow 3 times as much time to complete it!

I could not resist allowing the girls to have their first sleepover in the coop tonight. I know it's nowhere near finished but at least it is secure. I installed the PDZ in the poop tray and shavings on the floor this evening and moved the girls in. I just checked on them and they are all sleeping on the roost.(Yeah!)

Here are the girls getting a snack before heading up to the roost.

Roost bar is about 42" off the ground. Bottom of poop tray is at 34". Crazy chickens have decided they like to use the area above the windows and venting area to cuddle up in!
