This is Tia, my little bantam cochin mama. She went broody and hatched out 6 little buff orpington babies. But somehow along the way, she managed to sneak one of our Khaki Campbell x Welsh Harlequin duck eggs. I had to pull her chicks as they hatched so she would remain sitting while not knowing exactly how far along the little duck egg was. To my surprise, this little duckling hatched a whole 2 weeks after its nest siblings. She had been a wonderful little mama to her duck baby. Although, I think she may be a little confused as to why it floats.

I had a lone mallard duckling that hatched out and had no other companions, so I gave him over to my Indian Runner, who has always been good with ducklings. Here she is leading him around the yard, encouraging him to do what she does:

And here they are preening together. He does EVERYTHING the Indian Runner does - it is so cute!
