I think it depends on the contest. I would say typically 3 is the best amount, but if it’s like the writing contests or a big, involved contest where people put in a lot of hard work, somewhere around 4

I agree I think some contests are okay with one prize, like simpler ones. And ones that require a lot of work like article ones could do more.

Generally I think 3 is a good number - especially for contests that typically get a lot of entries.

I wouldn’t want to do tons of prizes for every single contest as there would have to be some sort of balance like less contests or worse prizes.

For poll purposes I went with 3 as a standard, however, I think the number of entries should be taken into consideration as well as likelihood of ties when considering total number of prizes.

I voted for 5 prizes, the more the merrier and the more interest if you think you might win "something". The key word is something". Doesn't have to be big or expensive, just something, like a video ribbon.

I voted for 5 prizes. It gives people a bigger chance of winning something and it makes it exciting!

i'd say most would be 3, but some like the random contests would probably be better with 1, like with the v alentines day ones, and like others said, the article contests maybe more

I would think if there were fewer prizes the quality of the entries might improve. Why put much effort into it if you know you'll likely get a participation prize regardless

I like a classic 3, with the exception of a 4th prize on those very rare occasions when something is tied.
