Sometimes when it comes to opinions and debates, there is no right or wrong; it's just whatever you believe. An example of that is country vs. city which someone brought up. Technically, an ideal society in my opinion is every person/family for themselves; produce everything themselves. Or maybe even have small balanced communities. But that's not the reality of the way our society is set up, and the world is too populated to really have everyone live naturally. But anyway, back to city vs. county, there really is no "better" technically in our society. Most farmers rely on income because everyone has to pay taxes, and a lot of modern farms use expensive equipment. First of all, you need to have a population to buy your excess yield to make income, and you need people in the industry to make your farm equipment. As far as city people go, they often consider country folks "backwards" and insult their way of life. But hey, where did the food on their plate come from? Me myself, like I said, I'm for neither but I will I've a country life. I basically believe in self sustainability; back to the old days, living with what the land gives me. That's not what our society supports thought, and what do I do if I get sick? I need a doctor so that ties into why we need "city folks". So there really is no right or wrong, that kind of debate is strictly opinion based. Someone said don't bring up religion, but it really have to because that's an example of no right or wrong in my opinion. There are hundreds of religions out there; what makes the religion you were taught the "right" one? This is why I tend to respect everyone's different religion, because who's to say theirs is any more right or wrong than mine?
What annoys me though is when there actually is a right or wrong and I know I'm right. For example, I hear all the time that an egg is an egg; like saying store bought caged eggs are the same as free ranged organic. I cracked two eggs and ate both, and free range organic were clearly better, no scientific evidence needed. I also got stuff I clearly researched and experimented with and people tell me I'm wrong when they got no proof they are right. The reason for this in my opinion is that people only want to hear what they want to hear. If you ate mcdonalds everyday; would you really want to accept the fact that the food you are eating is killing you? People always like to believe what they're told also; just because someone on tv told you something was right or your parents told you something was right doesn't necessarily make it right. Sometimes this is hard to face, but it's true. Even my theory of "backing with evidence" is sometimes off too because who's to say the evidence is even right in the first place? I believe it may have been an Einstein quote, but there was a quote I like that went something like "If a million people believe in a foolish idea, it's still a foolish idea".
I'm sometimes a hypocrite of my own word too because some of the stuff I do say and support is opinion driven. I'm a full supporter of organic produce, and I'm quick to say pesticide is bad for you. I say this because I automatically consider things man made bad to put into your body, especially when you associate the term "chemical". I've never researched heavily how dangerous non organic produce is, but it's currently something I'm working on, so as or now, I may be wrong. I do know that the stuff that comes from my garden (completely organic) tasted better to me than store bought non-organic, so I can say that as a statement.
Sorry for my rant, but welcome to my world, I always try to keep my mind open. A lot of what I believe is based on what I think, I grew up to be very different from my parents. Just because I was told to believe something doesn't make me believe it.
