Coop Build Deja Vu

I enjoyed this thread. In the basics, my coop is similar to yours. I still can’t believe how many times I ran out of 2x4s. I need only 4 more hon. Are you sure that’s all? Absolutely I said. 15 2x4s later I was still short. Where do they go???

Ha ! Yup , it seems the 2 x 4's disappear . Today I picked up 15 - 1 x 4's 6' long , corner and gable trim , I know I'll need more but its a start .

My husband does the same thing... part way through ANY project.... HEY, got to run after more....
He had a list.... yes shortages happen....
but I starting to think its a conspiracy......
maybe its because he grins......

Got the front side of the coop framed and siding on , put a few nailers in front of run gable end for siding . Dug holes and poured concrete for mid support 2 x 4 "s for run roof .

I had enough left over Deck/Porch paint from my coop to paint the deck in this coop .

Then I got the siding on the gable end on the run .

Next I got the center supports installed and pinned the bottom 2 x 4 runners on both sides of the uprights with 18" x 3/4" steel pins .

Then I installed both windows .

That's it for today , next up I think is gonna be the nesting box .

Nesting box is built , will get trimmed out and metal roof when I get to that .

My daughter should have the fascia all painted tonight so maybe tomorrow I'll get started on the roof .

I remember when we built our coop. We were running short of time, but it was fun. My wife and myself were up early every Day and painting nailing roofing and winging it. I’d love to build another, just for fun, but those days are long gone. You’re doing a great job. Enjoy the moment!

Thanks much . I am enjoying every minute of it , even when it wears me out . I've been retired for 7 years now and I do see the slow down in what I was able to do in a days time compared to now , but I'm gonna keep pushing until I'm pushing up daisy's

Started on the roof today , got about half done .

Love it when the last roof panel of the day fits about perfect .

That's enough for me for today , I'm bushed .

Started on trim today , gotta pick up another dozen 1" x 4"x 6' tomorrow and get em painted . Hardware cloth was delivered yesterday , will start on that in a few days .
