Coop De Chickenville~My Favorite Chickens and Life

Whats the difference between a frizzle and a frazzle?
Im still new at this.
A frazzle can happen when you cross two frizzles. In that case a quarter of their offspring will have two copies of the frizzle gene. And the two copies cause the health issues.
That is why breeders don’t breed frizzles with frizzles.
A frizzle only has one copy of the frizzling gene.
This is a pretty good explanation from Meyer hatchery.

Good information but I knew about the frizzle gene. I meant how they look when they are born. How do you know if you get a frazzle or frizzle? Do they look different?

On my fun days I like going to Asheville to browse the lovely shops and buy tarot cards. They also have hippie clothing and Im a 69' girl.

No. They look the same. That is the issue. It is why you shouldn’t breed two frizzles together because you cannot tell which of the babies are the unhealthy frazzles.
Read the link I posted. It explains it quite well.
To get frizzles you should breed a frizzle with a chicken that is normal feathered. Some of the offspring will have normal feathers and some will be frizzles. But you won’t get frazzles which is what you want to avoid.

I dont plan on mating 2 frizzles

Well I started my lithium today. It's a lot cheaper than Latuda. Hoping it works well so I dont kill someone.
Fed my chooks mash and treats. Zeus wont come near me since I went out to the coop this morning and held him. Hades is a gentle giant. Got some great photos and video. I dont know why Zeus crows so much.
The girls backs are really getting torn up but I cant get an saddle on them to cover their backs. Maybe Ill try tonight.

Its early 5 am, usually Zeus is in his coop crowing at this time. 2 of the dogs have gone out to potty. Soon my hubby will get up and we will let the other 2 dogs out for meds and insulin. Then Ill give my dog her thyroid meds. Her leg is doing better she is walking on it now. She hurt it jumping off the bed last week. The baby chicks will be getting up soon. after hubby goes to work Ill feed the chooks their warm mash and let them out of the coop.
