Okie Dokie!!! Got our birds!!! Step in the right direction. Brought them home in boxes, nothing like 6 chickens and 4 kids in the back of the van... Wonderful ride home!!!
The birds: 2 Black Australorps, 2 Buff Orpingtons, and 2 Silver Lace Wyandotte. Unfortunately with thier work schedule and living an hour away, we got home in the dark.
Happy to have our little LED lanterns, they lit the coop up well, well enough for the camera to focus in the dark!
One Buff Orpington, took bread from me, and let me pick her up and let my 4 kids pet her. My 2 year... wow... Note to self ~ never let her pet the chickens without an adult around.
She *tried, was not allowed to pull feathers, and *tried to pull the birds feet, once again unsuccessful. I placed the buff orpington on the roost ~ she seemed like she didn't know what to do up there, was looking for a way down, I left her, hope that's ok.
The rest of my urban flock, was huddled ever so closely under the nesting boxes. I left them some food and water and locked the coop up tight!! Gonna peak on them after the kids are in bed. One of the Silver Lace Wyandottes, has its tail feathers pulled by a naughty rooster that she lived with. Soon, she will be able to grow them back.
