Coop Fire - New shed - extremely cold - seramas

Poor guy :( This is something I worry about with our little ones.

I was surprised to see him alive this morning when I woke up, and he’s still a little “stunned” it seems, but he is much better tonight.

Third morning inside and he is back to crowing! (If you want to call this a crow lol!)
@Faraday40 keeps a silkied serama indoors for the night and put's him in a dark box in the morning for an hour to stop his crowing until the suns up and then he's out in her coop which has a heat pad I believe. She may be able to chime in with some crow prevention advice.

I don’t care about the crowing. Inside or out. I was just happy to hear him crow again after his near-death experience. :D

And he is actually the father or grandfather of the boy that @Faraday40 keeps inside!! :love
I sent eggs to her and she hatched them.

Small world! I have got chicks and eggs from Faraday40. I have not added Seramas to my flock though. I've decided to stick with large hardy breeds that I don't have to worry so much about in winter time.

She does have some gorgeous birds!

Yes @WVduckchick knows our spoiled little Teddy very well. Glad to hear that the silkied rooster is acting more like himself.

I'm so happy Teddy's comb still looks great. Although he's inside at night, he's outside all day & we've already had some single digit temps. Even my big orps have not gotten any frostbite. Normally we get a few days where it's a day high temp of -5'F and -20'F (or colder at night..... then there's the -40'F wind chills at those times!) In those temps there's not much we can do.

Our girl Noodle has been outside in the heated coop almost every night & also has no frostbite. I'm happy with how my screened room patio coop is working out. Of course the chickens know we live on the other side of that sliding glass door, so if we leave the run door open, they make a bee-line to our glass door. After dark, they'll sometimes use the light coming from the house to stay up and scratch around. They also line up & stare at me through the glass with begging eyes to come inside.
