It’s an 8 x 12 shed and it has two windows and one extra wide door. I’m going to put a little chicken door on the right side that doesn’t have any windows. I’m not sure where I want to put my roofs or my nesting boxes. I’m also going to add vent windows on the walls that don’t have any windows. Kind of a drop-down door with the hardware cloth across it so nothing can get in. I’m putting hardware cloth over the windows so that nothing can come in through the screens. I am also going to put down linoleum and have poop boards . I’m going to do the deep litter method but I have sand on my poop boards. If anyone has any ideas as to where I should place my roots and noticed I would love that because I’m really having a hard time to decide. Also adding a really large run because I’m not allowed to free range where we live. We’re only getting a half dozen chickens no roosters and may expand to a dozen later on 9DD8BAF6-AACC-4539-8AB5-4659518900C5.jpeg 2D5C913E-775A-426A-9F74-174EF9C054E1.jpeg A9C017DB-2197-4027-BE59-36F8FE04D1D7.jpeg 2E43EF9C-383D-401C-9B48-E5C290DF2693.jpeg B1C3ED6B-A2E9-4561-9510-34863EF71FCE.jpeg 9DD8BAF6-AACC-4539-8AB5-4659518900C5.jpeg CFBB12E9-96DF-4CF9-9256-8EB13A980366.jpeg AA9403C0-6B9E-46D4-BE74-99B194EA5DB6.jpeg B5720398-2D6D-4C6B-886F-66BB4DEFCFEB.jpeg

Looks great. A few things you might do. Add lots of ventilation. A ridge vent if that is in your skill set will really help. The main people door. You will want to put in a board to keep in the litter/bedding.if it is removable, that will aid in cleaning out. Consider PDZ for the poop boards.

Perhaps you could put the roosts in a corner? Or even more than one corner. You might want to not use sand in the coop though, it can harbor a lot of diseases especially when it's wet.

PDZ. What is that ? Ridge vent is in hubs skill set! And I am planning on putting in the kick board to keep litter in removable is a fantastic idea!

That's a fantastic space for 12 chickens and I'm glad you're adding more ventilation. I have a 6x10 with similar layout (door in center of long side). I have roosts on one of the 6' sides with nest boxes and pop door across on the other. Kick board is just a pine plank held in place with a few bricks.

Welcome to BYC!
Oh, that's a nice blank slate!!
Consider partitioning off some separate areas for brooding/isolation and storage.

DL and poop boards don't really mix...keep the DL in the run.
Ditto the PDZ.

Add lots of top hinged windows.
Open the eaves up and cover with 1/2" HC.
