coop open to the run at what temperatures?

My guys have access to the outdoors during the day even when it is 50 below.

Another vote for cutting a little chicken size door into the door or wall. Or if that is a rental, fasten a heavy blanket or tarp over the doorway with a chicken size hole in it.

If the wind is strong, you can build a wind baffle in front of the doorway and really cut down on the wind that blows in.

You just make a door for it, hinges and all, and close it up at night. Most folks (not all) close their pop doors at night to prevent raccoons and other predator critters from getting inside. Some have their mini doors open like regular doors, some put theirs on a pulley system w/the door going up on a track... There are MANY different options. I have mine rigged with an automatic drapery motor and a timer, so it opens at 7 am and closes at 6:10 PM here.
