Emergency, doesn't to count as extra trip due to poor prior planning.

Reminds me of when I bought my slider, to rebuild a hot tub surround prior to selling house....Justified!

I understand and applaud that we are encouraging newbies but... the seizure could have been caused by poor usage or poor cleaning or abuse or...

In your case you could have used a hand or circular saw, I think you just wanted a new slider and sold your house to justify it.

My first and only slider...only had a jig saw at the time....tub surround was octagonal.

Here’s my story, and I’m sticking to it! The fence on the base plate of miter saw is out of square. I called manufacturer to get a replacement and that model is soooo old that no parts are available. I was considering (being a Toolmaker by trade) fabricating an auxiliary fence, but I’d lose cross cut capacity. And, hey, I coveted a Dewalt 12” compound miter saw!!!!

Scott, I have the Dewalt 12" chop saw, it also allows 45 degree cuts on 10" wide boards. Great choice!

I whacked mine out too, cast aluminum, cutting thin plexi with the wrong blade which caught and slammed it into the fence...did it twice SMH(dumba$$!!).
Rigged a fence on one side, not ideal but OK for my hack and slash projects

It’s warming up into the 40s tomorrow and the saw will be exercised thoroughly. Not sure I’ll ever need the full capacity of a 12” slider, but I don’t need 110 HP on my motorcycle either!!!

Lol. I was mulling over attaching the hardware cloth and was considering fashioning individual screens for each opening, then fastening screen in each space.

Sounds like a good idea. Fastening the welded wire to the outside without wood framing is a very time consuming and fiddly job. I've done it myself and wouldn't do it that way again.

I’m finalizing plans on 4x8 coop with attached run and need advice. Can I place rafters on top of side walls to create a ventilation gap of 1-1/2” under the entire roof perimeter? Essentially it’d be wall, rafter on top, then roofing connected to the rafters. Hope my question is clear - it’s clear in my mind!

When we built our coop a several years ago, we put a ventilation gap of 2" under 2 opposite of 4 sides to give ventilation. They are under where the roof overhangs so rain doesn't get in. We have a pitched roof on ours and the other two sides don't have overhangs so didn't put vents in the other sides but have 2 flap doors on each side so I can open them during warm days to air out or clean out the coop (chickens free roam in the afternoon). I wish I had better pics but the vents are in these pics between the run roof and the coop.
