Coop size vs chicken math

DE doesn't actually do much to prevent parasites and can cause respiratory issues. However, Sweet PZD is super helpful for managing smell.

So I looked it up, and saw different types. Is there an actual difference between the horse stalls or the chicken coop one, except the price?

Yes is does! I use it in my poop boards and just scoop the poo like you would a little box, it's fantastic!

So it's probably all been mentioned, but an 8x8 will be easiest since you'll not have to cut or add on. If you raise it about 3 feet off the grpunf, you can always just use a rake or shovel to scrape waste out.

I personally don't clean the run out as long as it doesn't trap water. I'll take out soiled matts if I notice or smell them, but otherwise just keep adding shavings as they wear down

I'm not positive, but I think about 2.5' will be as high a it can go, without tying into my shed. My ground should drain pretty good since there's a slight incline to it.

Oh yeah, that should still be high enough. I personally round to solid feet for my own ease

Nice!!! I'm 6' so I don't want to kill myself by trying to clean it, so it will need to be tall enough. I'm thinking about 6'1", but will have to measure, if it ever quits raining. this is all a thought now, so who knows how it turns out, lol.

Ah. I'm 5'5 So I can get by with shorter buildings

Honestly if it has a way to tldrain reliably, I wouldn't bother to completwly clean it and just add shavings as needed

It will drain fine, I'm thinking about the size of the coop. Even if its an 8x8 coop, it will need to have the clearance for me to easily access it, 1/2" plywood here is pricey, about $55 a piece.

Have you considered a pallet coop? Apparently some places just toss pallets when done unloading off of them
