I a so sorry to hear about your incubator trouble. It seems those of use who use incubators have issues now and then. Mine stand a better chance in the incubator than under hens fighting for position.Although I really appreciate your asking I was hoping that nobody would![]()
The hatch was the worst I have ever had, mainly because I had to change Incy's half way through and the eggs went 8 hours without a fan working !
I had about 20 clear eggs of various breeds which I removed after candling.
The 11 full Cornish eggs went into lockdown, only 4 hatched, 1 had a deformed leg so I had to dispatch it, I still have 3 but they don't look to good either to be honest.
Yesterday I picked up 20 Sasso Medium grow Red broilers which they call Farm Rangers and 20 Guinea fowl Keets which I put in my pheasant pens on my shooting land when they are 8 weeks old.
Today I put my Cornish in with them as they don't seem to be feeding as keenly as I would like.
I'm hoping they will encourage the Cornish and bring them on a bit.
But the next few days will make or break them.
JRNash Ive come to that conclusion too! I need to find a real good quality barred rock rooster for my cornish cross girls
I was under the impression the Doms were lighter than barred rocks. Gonna have to do some more researchI'm sure you have your reasons but I'd go with a great Dominique cock bird...for lots of reasons. 1. They have the right type of comb. 2. the Doms have more meat per pound than the Barred Rocks. Why settle for more bone and feathers? JMO
