@Shadrach
We don't sound all that different. I have a low paying job but that was my choice. Its got a lot of freedom and flexibility and next to no stress.
My wife can come work with me if we want and it cuts time at work in half. I can even bring my kid to work whenever I want or need to.
Theres definitely times I wish I had more $$$ but this job lets me spend so much more time with family that money doesn't seem as important when I have family time.
I am also surrounded by people thinking life is coming to an end because of things they now have to do without. Those things are things ive done without for years and don't miss or need.
My state is desperate to get restaurants back open because so many go out to eat almost nightly.
This curbside pick up and delivery just doesn't taste the same to them they say.
You would think it would kill them to fix a meal at home.
We eat a home cooked meal every night together and it is such a joy.
Funny the things I love are the same thing others can't seem to stand and the things so valuable to them means nothing to me.
I love the simple life.
I also have chickens and pigs I can eat if I must and can also hunt and fish.

How many of you'll were working and still are or were working and now aren't.

I'm still working but have had to cut some hours to stay employed. My boss is losing a lot of his income so times are tougher for him which makes times extremely tough for me financially.
I'm actually one of those that live from paycheck to paycheck.
No bank account, no savings, no credit card or credit. We live very cheap and was usually making it from week to week with a little cash in my pocket but lately about two days a week I'm down to nothing.
Luckily ive been used to being broke so long the economy going to hell doesn't scare me like it does most.
So many lately have been freaking out about finances I'm glad I'm not in that boat yet.
I am kinda jealous of the ones that are home all the time now. So many things I could be doing around the house that I still don't have time to.
While I worked from home anyway, I can't work now because I can't connect with clients.
My current little farm enables me to have a few animals and a small garden, but it's not like my last place which was a self sustaining homestead. The farm was my business and a way of life there, but here it's not.
Family allergies already makes sourcing safe food rather difficult to begin with, but so long as I can order what we need online...and can afford to do that... we should be ok for a little while.
I home make most foods so we never eat out anyway and barber/salons for hair or nails is a luxury we can't afford to begin with. Good thing I'm handy with clippers and scissors. :D
Boy that was strange. My first post didn't post then merged half of it into my other post.

You are about to enter another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land of imagination. Next stop, the Twilight Zone!
Gremlins!

Thankfully the kids are grown up and I just have myself and the chickens and ducks to look after. Much like yourself it seems, I made a choice over ten years ago about the kind of life I found worthwhile. I invested what I had in my small house here and compared to many, assuming one can cope with solitude and not a lot of money, I live a great life.
I'm not really complaining about my circumstances, as I wrote, I'll survive, but there are thousands of people here that are in deep shite. They need to work. A huge proportion of Spain's GDP is agriculture. I think it is the second largest supplier of food in Europe. It is dependent on migrant workers and the many small farms and smallholdings.
It's these people who need the support and they're not getting it.

25 kilos is 22 Euros here and I bought 75 kilos. I also bought straw, coccivex, and some other essentials. I spent a bit over 150 Euros. My pay was 200 Euros per month.
Ok, 22 euros = 23.80 dollars. I can afford to send money for 50 kilos to hold your chickens for a little longer. How do I get it to you? (Those pictures of your chickens have brought such pleasure, it's the least I could do.)

Everyone took this lock down so well. But I think we've had enough. And no one acknowledges that it was more for preventing millions of people hitting the hospitals at the same time. The rest-I think its really time to trust all us people that will maintain distance and wear a mask . I mean we're not children!

I think I’ll give it a try tonight. :)

Too nice to stay inside today. I’ve been working outside and then now I’m digging out all my gardening/farming books & magazines 😂🤣 there’s some really good info in them. Gonna go to the feed store to get some shavings and a few chick supplies so I can move the chicks into a bigger brooder and then I’m gonna come back and work outside some more. We are burning today but I’m going to work on the garden instead.

We have rain all day. Real incentive to do anything.

My family is one of the very lucky ones right now. While I don't work (by choice), hubby works in the tech industry. Right now business is booming (he said they got a year's worth of growth in 3 months). His company would love to hire more people but they can't do in-person interviews or train new hires since everyone's mandated to work from home until mid May (regardless of state/country ordinances). So hiring is currently on hold, but at least no one's in danger of getting laid off.

My mother in law is retired but has been working remotely for years as a consultant, so she's not impacted either. Sis in law is a vet, which is considered essential so she's also still working. My immediate family is all in Taiwan which currently has a pretty tight hold on the virus, so almost all businesses are operating as usual and the kids can still go to school.
