Our TSC sells them. I recall last year seeing a big ole batch being sold for $1 each as they were aging out of the brooder. The store manager came over and told me she would sell them to me for 50 cents each if I wanted some and ducklings for a buck each. I had no room so passed.....and they were straight run. They don't let you look to close at them when boxing them up so for me it was a no.
Oh wow. Mine would show me all of them up close 😂

Silly question, maybe, but are brahmas really as docile as I'm being told? My niece wants "big" chickens (not like my tiny bantams) but she's a bit timid. I'd love to tick off her Daddy and get her chickens for her birthday. I've got to maintain the "Cool Aunt" status, and unfortunately, the Birthday Goat is not an option at the moment! (insert unfound emoji of evil, grinning face with hands rubbing together, maybe with a slightly maniacal giggle sound byte, as well!)

Everyone I have known with them has loved them!!! Cochins are good too but of course a bit smaller. Still pretty big though. My Orpingtons are great too but that’s hit or miss because my hens are runts but my cockerel is MASSIVE lol

But Brahmas are definitely great birds!!! Not sure they’re the greatest layers but very gentle and sweet and definitely giant LOL

Silkies are usually super nice and docile too but of course not exactly giant lol

Thanks ... but I'd really rather get her The Birthday Goat! It's a family tradition that my brother has yet to experience. He's dished it out ... but never been on the receiving end. I am SO conflicted ... but I don't want to get stuck with a goat! He's SUCH a spoilsport!

Over the years I have kept several. Every one has been a gentle giant.

The dark brahma on the left is almost 12 pounds of gentle fluff.

That said they do not enjoy being carried around.

I had more pics but lost those in the last update BYC did.

These chicks are quite mellow. I’m only keeping pullets because I don’t want extra large roosters... been there done that and my girls hated me for it. I’ve heard they’re very mellow, but I’ve never owned one past the chick stage except my bantam brahma. The bantam brahmas are my favorite in the flock. The female one is so cute I just want to squeeze her.

I hope Jack’s size won’t be a problem.... so far he’s very mellow and gentle. Although he has no clue what he’s doing 😂🤣

I suppose I'm the odd one here... I had 2 light Brahmas and they were mean. Mellow and big, but mean. Mean to me and mean to the other chickens. I raised them same as all my other nice hens but I guess they just came from a line of angry people haters. Never saw hens so mean so I sold them and haven't had any Brahmas since.
