1) We did our homework, sorta.
2)We went about middle of the road.
3) we enlarged our coop after we designed it. Originally approx 8' x 8' ballpark; final footprint: 10' x 14' and a tapered roofline for 80% ceiling west side(of the 14' length) vents.
4) put run under the same metal roof. Current total footprint? ~18' wide x ~20-something feet.
We have 3 super large coops and 3 small coops plus 9000 sq ft run that has part of the woods in it.

Everyone does their own thing, but I’ve seen people buy those coops at TSC and shove 6+ when it fits maybe 3 full sized. I have 3 bantams in a free one we got, but they’re moving to our newest big coop. The grow out quail will be using that coop next.

Why because they have a storage bin setup?

I have a storage bin brooder and my chickens eat the proper chick feed and layer feed.
Nah - The problem is not the set-up ... it's the cheap person who thinks it's too much trouble and too expensive to raise her own chicks, but doesn't want to compensate anyone else for doing it for her!

I think at this rate she's sunk so much into wedding costs (had a venue, videographer, and flowers for today, had a caterer for the reception that was canceled, etc.), she might have to just print her own invites!

We did call her to see how things are going and she said they were probably going to just load up the flowers and take them to groom's brother's house (he's ordained and was supposed to marry them today) and sign the paperwork to make it official. No real ceremony, the flowers are just so they can snap a photo or two. They'll order pizza afterwards.
That's obviously not the PERFECT solution ... but it's a pretty cool one! While they're eating their pizza, make sure that someone is outside decorating the living daylights out of their car ... then make sure someone videos their discovery and departure. THAT should be memorable!
C'mon Peeps - we need cheap, fast ideas for decorating a car without damaging it ...
My suggestion - fill the back seat (or the whole interior!) with balloons. Not helium ones, just the cheap dollar-a-bag latex ones. You could even use their chosen wedding colors!
Oh - and don't forget the string of cans tied to the bumper ... just be sure to tuck them up under the car so they're not seen until they're heard!

My soon to be 8th grader is asking me if I'll consider it .....
If you do ... if ANY of you do ... remember to include the social aspect of school, too. Sign up for swim team at the Y. Join Scouting. Jpin 4H ... better yet join both! Take square dance lessons (include the whole family, because believe it or not, those are a BLAST!) Just do something - anything - that teaches/uses group dynamics and cooperation. You'll be grateful for the break now, and the returns, later.

Don't know, but the readers do not have to touch the people I don't think.
I do know they make ones that you just "point and shoot" at whatever you want a temp on and assume that's what is being used.
That's what they used at DD's graduation. They tested each of us before we even got out of the car, then went back to their "station" and cleaned it again. I wonder what they would have done if someone had a temp. My guess is that NONE of us would have been allowed out!

Oh lol. I honestly think a lot of people are that way now with chickens. They want to do everything the cheapest way possible and they don’t realize in the end that doing it that way rarely works. If you want a nice flock, you have to invest in them with a nice shelter, quality feed, and space.
Awww, c'mon ... we all know you're just saying that so you can get all those "free eggs" and then sell your leftovers to US ... for a big profit! ;)

See? That's what the cheapies mean. Now that you've done all that, you can get "free eggs" AND free chicks! So why should THEY have to pay extra for them? Some lightweights REALLY don't get it!
