Gosh, you sure did miss"ed" it! :frow

I'll continue to do my research and make the best decision possible for me. And at this point, no mask.
:frow:frow
And I'll continue to get my information from smart people with medical degrees and institutions or universities that have dedicated their research, time, efforts, and proven track records towards saving lives and fighting previous virus and disease outbreaks.

Of all the wonderful things my God has blessed me with, I'm most thankful for that big squishy thing in my noggin. :love

It must be a talent, or something, to be so gullible. Innate, or a learned response?
Sorry, couldn't resist being snarky.

It is a fact that most people will start to believe something if they hear it often enough.

Oh that's been going on for years
I didn't know we had a president who had a wheelchair/braces for years.. the press was careful back then as to how they shown Roosevelt
Or that president Kennedy (among others) had affairs while in office. Press looked the other way.
I didn't even know till recently that we already had a likely gay president, James Buchanan.
I think part of the cause is the 24 hour news cycle that began with the Iran hostage crisis. Press looking for any spicy tidbit.

My humble observation over the last 20 odd years.... At the family reunions I went to growing up, even into my 20's they're were a smorgesborg of political and religious beliefs and all got along. I mean we had from a RC priest, JW's, to various pagans and Baptists and even some penta's.....

Bullet style timeline

Grew up as a DoD/reservists kid
88-92 Navy (legacy Veteran)
92-95 "Cornflake U."
95-2004 University
2004- now several chapters
From about 93 became personally aware of (work relations) with Michigan Militia members & their 'theories'

University years became commented with folks of other theisms and watched as 2 "cults" wormed their way into offically sanctioned status on campus. The dept. Of psychology had a some stuff they worked with other universities to develop a standard for what qualified as a cult.
These two über xtain student groups got really crazy over time even changed their acronym to copy the mutli-theistic student group....

The one student group gained an even larger foothold when the mega church in town offically backed them. The hypocrisy was really visible on campus around 2000 as well.

While watching this stuff evolve I also watched several friends and acquaintances shift more and more into conspiracy theories. Those that fell into the theories the most also tended to be those who left or dropped out of college or never did college.
Why? I wish I understood better..... It seems a combo of comfort-food and/or something worse?

In the folks I knew from those Navy days I have watched them -via social media get very deep in the faux news trenches. Nearly all of those that have done this also are high school only or just a few college classes under their belts.

I am by no means an expert at anything.
I do my best at critical thinking.
I fail a lot but, I own my mistakes and get back up.

Several "friends & family" that have gotten this same "faux news" mindset seem to have summarily stopped wanting to think critically about stuff.

So now my "centrist" POV has been shifted (under my feet) to a bit into the liberal side of the teeter-totter....

(Sad sigh)
