That looks like a much better deal then the Presto and easier to clean too.
I love my Excalibur but will admit it's not the easiest thing to clean. Thankfully everything is dried so you can just dump out any crumbs, then wipe as needed. If I remember correctly the large trays are dishwasher safe so that helps.
I’ll see how this one does. I know everyone says get an Excalibur, but I wanted experience before I got something top notch.

I am sure this one will be in amazing condition by December and a food pantry customer will be extremely grateful.

Sadly there are some who delight in messing with the sensibilities of others. For me it has become important to avoid interaction with abrasive/negative/trolls.

Lost power yesterday morning, and lost cable last night. Okay on the power because of our generator, but no cable - Don't understand the lag time after storm end, but both are back now. Much of NJ is shutdown and will remain so for days if not longer. Year before Sandy we lost power for close to 8 days and then lost power for 10 days with Sandy. I worry about those in urban areas without power or a place to which they can go. I think NJ will be facing another Covid spike.
our power company said they had more damage this storm than Sandy

when you do a wet marinade, just be sure to dry stuff off before putting on trays. Cuts down on the drips
Yeah I watched a video and he said to roll up the meat or whatever in paper towels before putting them on the trays.

It was supposed to come today, but it didn’t. Maybe tomorrow. The meat has been marinating for 3 days.

My husband said he can’t open the fridge because it smells so yummy

I don’t get the negativity. Want to ship those people the good word and maybe their attitude might change.

There’s no need to be negative towards anyone. We all live in this world together, we should start working together. Who cares what anyone does in their personal life, you are not their judge. We are meant to love one another despite our differences.

If my cat and dogs can be one... then humans should be one as well!

Long power outages happened to me often when we lived up north and I have quite the assortment of supplies beyond typical camping supplies. Living out in the country certainly made it easier to take solar showers than in the suburbs!:D

Thankfully a natural spring was only 2 miles away there and it was set up so that one could back their truck under a connected pipe in order to fill containers that could then be dumped into the livestock watering tanks.
The longest outage was 9 days after a bad storm and that spring was a lifesaver with over 120 animals and temps in the upper 80s and low 90s! It was a more agricultural community than here and local fire departments could not keep up with the demand to bring water to the local farms to keep livestock alive.

Here I have several natural springs on my property and a year 'round creek. Of course the creek brings it's own challenges during storms, like being stranded in and having to hike north to get out, but we will never be without water again.

So I talked to D about our BSA chat and he flipped out and got really excited about the whole thing, started showing me all of his old BSA stuff. I guess he's had his BSA handbook in his car for years now (??? Not sure why he never brought it in) and started talking to me about knots and stuff. :p Turns out I know most of the knots he was showing me (again, just from faffing about as a kid), I just have no idea what they're called.
I was also surprised by some of the the things in the boy scouts code that I am 100% sure are not actually followed much in the BSA. But they are interesting none the less.
Also, turns out the Wood Badge has very little to do with "normal" BSA badge skills, so I might not be interested in it. But I might be willing to do troupe work anyhow and learn it on the way.

But there's not really anything we can participate in right now, so it's largely gonna be on the back-burner. But I'm glad he's so enthusiastic about it; I feel like I'd really need his support to follow through.

I've been pondering other skill building over the winter, in particular building a small wood burning kiln and doing clay pottery. But that's pricing out to be a little expensive so I'm not sure I wanna go through with it. It'd be around $100 in regular bricks, $250 in firebrick, $50 mortar. Plus ordering clay and firewood. 😬
On the other hand, if I build said kiln it could move with me when I move in the next couple years. So it's not like it'd be a waste. But it IS pricey.
We're considering using regular clay bricks and just dealing with it if they crack because then it'd only be like $200.

Finally giving the hens their extended "free range" in our fenced in small (inner) back yard.

I wanted something to see, experience that was "good" after my cautiously optimistic view yesterday lunchtime was deflated last night when I got back to check on them and find the silkie chickie that seemed to have stabilized had gotten a lot worse and another of the chicks was starting to show a hint of a wabble while walking around by late.(nearly midnight?) I posted in the silkie tag team thread....

Well woke this morning early thinking I'll get ahead of the game with both the Chickie's.... Nope. They both passed in their sleep by the looks of it all.

So back to the "good" here's the girls leasurely exploring the yard for their 3rd outing....
