My guess is that "behind the peak" means that they haven't reached it, yet ... and that's probably a good call! How is it determined that you've passed the peak already? How many were infected?

I'm hearing that rent and mortgage relief is in discussions for upcoming bills going through congress and I think there is already something in place that makes it so people cannot be evicted, for now.The hits just keep coming. I think I'm giving up on social distancing and isolation and just going straight to hibernation.
I am a substitute teacher with the public school system. School is out pretty much for the rest of the year, so I have no job.
I've been subbing for a looooong time, so I have a good following and work every day, but since sub hours are considered fluid, we get no unemployment benefits.
My summer job is closed indefinitely and could well go under from this. And ... big surprise ... nobody's hiring!
My ex just informed me that he's been laid off indefinitely. Now there will be no alimony or child support.
With no income, I'll lose my house.
I'd say, "I want my Mommy," but at this rate, I may just get what I ask for ... moving back in, kids, dogs, cats and all ... but no chickens. They're not allowed, there. I'm trying really, REALLY hard to stay positive ... but it's getting really, REALLY hard to do!
At least we're all fairly healthy ... for now.

We used to line our crab baskets with cheap tulle (netting by the yard.) The chicken wire of the basket nets kept the tulle open, while the tulle kept in the fish (and all the other little garbage we came up with, but that's half the fun.) If you're sewing, cut a circle a little bigger than needed to fill the basket. If you cut a large square, instead, you can cut strips along the edge and tie them onto the rim, like one of the fleece tied pillows that kids make, these days.Question for any fishing people-
I have a creek that is about 5' to 8' wide and usually between 1' to 2' deep. I say usually because I can't remember the last time it wasn't high from flooding.
Anyway, it's always full of minnows, little fish, snails, and crayfish. (crawdads)
The flow is usually pretty good and I'm thinking a casting net would not work to catch the minnows, but am at a loss when I look for minnow nets for kids to play in creeks with and hard tubular nets for small fish or prawns.
I'm thinking the flow is too strong for the traditional soft crab nets for pier fishing, where it lays flat that you put bait in the middle then pull up when you get a crab. And anything more elaborate left in place will get tossed around in the flow, though I have one quiet area before the bridge culverts.
Any advice for a sturdy net I can use while wading in the creek to catch fish?
Why am I asking? -Potential chicken food.![]()
Excellent idea! I have plenty of tulle and could fashion a frame from fencing or chicken wire.We used to line our crab baskets with cheap tulle (netting by the yard.) Thanks. I'll take the hugs ... bleached or not. And no, subs don't qualify for unemployment, at least not here, they don't. Part time bus drivers do, even for the summer when they don't have work, but those of us who step into the classroom when the teachers can't aren't "real" employees. No health benefits, no sick leave, no unemployment.I'm hearing that rent and mortgage relief is in discussions for upcoming bills going through congress and I think there is already something in place that makes it so people cannot be evicted, for now.
Also, do you qualify for unemployment? You should since you've had steady employment. I know it varies by state, but once upon a time my mom filled in for school bus drivers and could claim unemployment when there were not routes for her to drive, even when that was because of the Christmas break.
I think the regulations for unemployment is changing/has changed specifically to help people in your situation. And your ex's.
Aside from that, I'm sending you bleached hugs. It's such an uncertain time.

How about 3 glasses of wine? Thanks. I'll take the hugs ... bleached or not. And no, subs don't qualify for unemployment, at least not here, they don't. I love my job. I've watched pretty much every single child in this end of the county grow up. I know them, they know me. I can't go anywhere without a youngster running up for a hug (really hard, right now!) or a college kid asking, "Do you remember me?" Of course I do! I'm too old to go back to school and retrain. I couldn't work long enough to pay back the student loan. And retirement? Hah! Especially now. I'll work until the day they put me under. I'll have to!
I'm sorry to rant like this ... I know it's not like me ... but I'm feeling SO overwhelmed at the moment. I think a good night's sleep is in order ... possibly preceded by a glass of wine ... or two ...
