For a mellow respite to our times.

I was fortunate enough to see Carlos at a concert in Frankfurt, Germany. A buddy from Oakland, CA talked me into walking up onto the stage and we watched the thing from about 8' from Carlos and miraculously no one kicked us out.
That was in 1973.

And I vote we all start rowing towards Hawaii ... I've had enough of the cold, already!
:thumbsup
We were blessed with over two foot of snow last week and down to single digits at night...
Going to be 50* and three inches of rain tomorrow. Upstate NY weather sucks. Florida looks better every yr.
Hawaii would be awesome but every time I check out Google maps of areas in Hawaii and see those volcanoes and old lava flows its kinda scary Lol.

LOVE the Aussie ... but I have to admit that my favorite is a Border Collie - same smarts, same energy, but I'm a sucker for that long, plumy tail! It's been three plus years, and I still miss my boy like it was yesterday!

Haha! I love his little nubby tail. XD I already have a plumey tail on my husky and a thick rudder tail like a lab on my Old Dog. Also, the husky has prick ears, Old Dog full droop and on the little boy they're half-cocked. Gotta catch 'em all. ♥ ♥ ♥ (Not really why I picked my dogs but it's fun anyhow.)

Hospitals here are empty. Seems like every town around us has been experiencing hot spots for awhile now. Luckily not hearing of any needing hospitalization or deaths.
Though I did just have a 92 yr old distant cousin in a nursing home die of covid.
DW's uncle who had cancer removed from his throat last week kept getting the operation postponed because the big hospitals had to keep so many beds available for potential covid patients.

We're looking at 61 and rain tomorrow (Christmas Eve) and low 30's Christmas Day. We really never have to worry too much about liking the weather (or not) in Maryland. All we have to do is wait 20 minutes ... it'll change!

A friend of mine had hip replacement surgery yesterday, after having it postponed 3 times over the summer due to covid. She's home today. Yup, today, in fact, middle of the night, today. She had to have it done out-patient (a hip replacement? seriously?) you guessed it ... due to Covid. Between the number of available beds and the chance of infection, there wasn't space to keep her!

Hospitals here are at their breaking point.
It's worth noting, large cities are taking rural patients on a regular basis because they have the equipment to handle the complications of COVID and rural ones often don't. That's one of the complaints about the pfeizer vaccine - rural hospitals don't have the storage facilities for it because it goes in one of those crazy -80*F freezers.

So it's not surprising to see a discrepancy in hospital capacity based on the kinds of care they can offer. The bigger the hospital, the more they're breaking down.

I didn't post this the other day because there was too much other happy stuff going on here, but...my friend's hubby lost his covid battle. It's a senseless loss too. *bites tongue*

Hospitals here are still busting at the seams. A friend of mine took a fall today. Went to her local hospital and has a brain bleed. No ICU room for her there so transferred to the big regional hospital system and still waiting for an ICU space.

Our hospitals are begging people to stay home for the holidays and have been begging people to wear masks and social distance. On the rare occasions I go out for supplies I may see a handful wearing masks....if that. Most are strutting around like covid schmovid.
Meanwhile there are freezer trucks outside the hospitals and people with other emergencies can't get hospital space. SMH.

Saw a news story today about a local brother and sister in their 30's who died of COVID within a week of each other.
They had attended a funeral in Cali very shortly before falling ill.
They were both single parents with 11 kids between them.
Just imagine the spread factors at play here....SMDH!!
I went grocery shopping in that town today...several staff and customers had masks below their noses.

That's actually pretty much how it's done now. I had double knee replacement a year ago (just pre-Covid) and it was outpatient. When you're conscious again they want you to get up and move. When they see that you can do that, you get released with instructions to move every day.

The more you get up and move, the better your eventual recovery and mobility are.
