This among many other things has made me rethink getting the vaccine.
It'll be months before most of us even come close to qualifying for the vaccine. Possibly longer, if the powers-that-be don't figure out a better delivery/supply system. By then, we'll know if this is actual fact or just another naysayer spouting doom and pestilence. I am extremely grateful that we have people willing to take the shaky first steps towards mass immunizations, because if we do nothing, we're done-for, anyway!
I, for one, am guardedly optimistic and very, very hopeful!

Heck, they don’t care it’s not their money they are wasting.. to me it just shows they really don’t care about preventing death, they care more about how it all looks. Where is common sense anymore? The waste in government is obscene.
A lot of this is due simply to over-caution... and by politicians and everyday laypeople making decisions on how to go about this new crisis. I liken it to having people who like to watch a circus planning one, instead of letting the performers and experienced planners handle it correctly. Still, I'm not condoning the waste, but I'd rather they err on the side of caution than go "full-steam-ahead" without proper checks and balances. They'll figure it out ... let's just hope that it's sooner, rather than later ... much, MUCH sooner!

This is troubling:

Dr. Brittany Bankhead-Kendall, an assistant professor of surgery with Texas Tech University, in Lubbock, said she’s seen severe X-rays every time for COVID-19 patients, according to CBS News.

  • She said every symptomatic patient has dense scarring on their lungs. While about 70% to 80% of asymptomatic patients have scarring. She said a normal lung appears clean with lots of black on an X-ray. But a smoker’s lung has some white lines. A COVID-19 lung, though, is filled with white, she said.
  • She recently tweeted: “Post-COVID lungs look worse than any type of terrible smoker’s lung we’ve ever seen. And they collapse. And they clot off. And the shortness of breath lingers on... & on... & on.”

Note that 70%-80% of asymptomatic carriers of the Covid virus have scarring.

It isn't clear how that impacts on kids but if they spread the virus it would seem that they may very well have it and simply be asymptomatic. And, if that the case, does that mean they'll have compromised lungs for the rest of their lives? As a person who's dealt with compromised lungs for 40 years and who knows what it feels like to be in respiratory distress, this makes me sick to my stomach!

The passage I quoted (expand it; she makes 2 important points) is really the meat of the article I read but if you want to check it out I found it here. The business about kids is purely my speculation.

The Princess and I know of no one who has been vaccinated. We have registered with our county and also with our health care provider. Because of our age we are in the 1) B group. She is 75 and I am 79.
Was going to get my husband registered, but daughter in law said when her grandmother tried, the site had crashed next so many were on! Now I'm hearing there is a shortage. 🙄.

The shortage is for real. I am not anticipating being vaccinated any time soon.

I'd signed up to be notified when we could actually get on the list for an appointment, and this morning that message came by phone. So, next phase, signed us up on the county website to get appointments. At least we are in the system!
Also waiting for a message from our health provider, which is in another county. Whoever comes up with earlier appointments is where we will go.

I was just watching "Ask this old house" diy air cleaner. 4 HEPA filters taped together in a cube. Cardboard taped to bottom. Box fan, same size as cube, taped to top.

I saw that too!
Was a good explanation about surface area of filter material.
That hacked filter box might be good for someone who doesn't have forced air heating.

Hated the way Kevin kept mentioning COVID...glad the other guy wouldn't support it.

I turned in halfway through the filter build, so I didn't catch about the covid.
