Are you saying being right is more important than being kind?
Sourland phrased this much better than I could have. Being kind is exploitable if the other person is not here with good intentions. There have been many times in my life when being kind was not the correct course of action and led to myself or other people getting hurt. Children got hurt. Because I tried to be kind and forgiving.
I always start out with kindness. But it's a hard-fought self love to stop being kind to people who prove through their actions that they'd rather use that kindness for their own agendas. Nobody is obligated to be kind to people who are engaging in bad faith with the intention of treating you poorly.
