Hold off if you can, CM. I'm sure Jan 6 is going to turn out to be a super spreader event as all those rabid, un-masked, shouting (if not foaming at the mouth) people who crowded together have taken new supplies of the virus from their home states to DC and then back again. And then the Super Bowl on Sunday is likely to spike things again. ...and just at a time when hospitalizations here were down 45%.

BUT it's happening. Vaccines are beginning to get out there. There's a population of people who are fully vaccinated. And it will grow.

We have it penciled in for late February (20-somethingth). Everyone's busy before then anyhow on the days we'd like to do it - work and the like. Friend who's been largely unemployed since being put on "indefinite furlough" since March has a few job interviews. We'll see if there's a spike from those events by then. By then some of the people I know may even have first dose vaccines for all I know. G has been work from home for 3 weeks now which is great. 🙌 Everything's changing so rapidly, we take it day by day. We watch case numbers, both state and in our immediate bubbles, to make choices. We've erred on the side of cancelling or just not even bothering every time from late december to now, and even december was SUPER no contact. We're keeping our risk factor as low as possible.

Even if we do get together it's gonna be outside, distanced, masked, VERY limited group, etc. As many swiss cheese layers as we can. We've all agreed that even sharing cars with the window open is not OK and we're all on the same page about our health concerns and behavior. Cancelling would be sad but we're all eager to if things get worse, not better.

There's always spring.

I've heard the J&J vaccine's only about 2/3rds effective, so less than the pfeizer but still better than not getting a shot.

Here is one of the things I read. It works different than the other 2

Yep, 66%, so about 2/3rds. It does work different. Shame it's less effective against the new strains though. The pfeizer was 95% and early research suggests it's equally effective against the new strains, but needs more time.

Having more shots on the market is good, and the J&J is still more effective than the flu shot and much better than no shot. Might be good for people with serious risk factors like allergies as well but Idk if we know what the anaphylaxis rate is with this shot yet. There almost always is one.
