We had major flooding here on the Pigg river. Like 40 feet above normal. Entire trees washed away. Luckily we don't build structures near the river except a boat launch , stairs and a small bridge. Two out of three washed away.
What part of VA are you in?

That's terrible! I have just moved to southern Indiana but last year with Real Estate people ,, I wondered why all the old houses were "Built in 1929"!!! Turns out the Ohio River flooded badly way back then. Thank gosh my house was built in 1920! :D

Speaking of names...like most I just assumed the Spanish flu I've been hearing about lately (In regards to comparing to this outbreak) had come from Mexico.
Um, no.
Kansas. USA.

Don't know if this part is true, but I also heard it was coined Spanish flu to shift the blame at the time. *SMH*

We are the only species on earth that talks, yet are so careless with our ability to verbally communicate.

I've never thought of these labels as a negative thing. Just naming a virus. I think there's a major whole lot of things in the past few years that are now "racist" or not being fair to the masses. Like prayer or pledge of allegiance , "Merry Christmas" , old classic books banned., Bambi can't lose his mother- Sounds like some want everything exactly the same. Well no. I am too old to fall for that BS that kind of erases my whole life history. I do say Merry Christmas to any one I want. I don't think anyone has thought my Happy's and Merries as negatives. If anyone said "Happy Hanukah" to me I would surely think a positive comment and not try to make it feel like that's wrong. Heck even chickens have a language. Like roos Flamanko dancing around your legs is actually a chicken compliment.

There's nasty people everywhere. Try to avoid them. The more I meet people-the more I love my chickens. I would sincerely just want a person to be respectful as I would be.

Well this could be difficult depending on your hair and how you have it cut, but I've been cutting my own hair for about... 10 years now? Was going to cut it again tomorrow, it's down to my waist so not very manageable. I cut hubby's too (his is easy though, I just buzz it).

When my hair was that long I just twisted it until it formed it's own bun and put a clip in it. I wish I could have my hair that long again -it was super no work. But age has thinned my hair. :hit

Wish I could share my elastic braid. My daughter's a costumer and she got a supply house to open up for her to buy 100 yards. I've got another 100 coming later in the week from Amazon.

I could probably supply all of you if we were closer. But if anyone wants to PM me your snail mail addie I'll send you some. It's black but it's free.

I am in the same situation here in Florida. Our daughter and her family live in Jacksonville, which is an hour and thirty minutes away. We rarely go out socially. I really appreciate the comrade I get from the community on BYC, I live in a neighborhood where lots are one acre. We wave at each other as we come and go. I have more in common with this community than the one I live in. I love hanging out on BYC. I would like to say thank you to all of you as you make day and give me some laughs. BBH take care.

That sounds like what I left last year. 15 yrs in North of Tampa to Indiana, our neighborhood had everyone on acre plots , house had to be at least 1600sq feet. No goats or pigs and a limit of 15 chickens. However, many of my neighbors bred and raced pigeons. They had these huge pigeon coops that were make to look like their house, LOL. So no one complained about me. I just waved at my neighbors.
