A lot of part-time truck drivers are retired. Want to work a couple days a week but will help out more when necessary.
Have had many times a older driver tell me the difference between part time and full time "full timers get days off!"...
I've always wanted to be a truck driver. I love to drive, but not the backing up and trying to turn around parts. And I would need a large truck because I heard you can bring a dog. This is my dog. And where would I put the chickens?

You'd be surprised how many people think that since I'm retired I have nothing to do. They think they can call for me to come right away and do whatever, or they can drop in.
I've been out with the poultry, hear a stranger danger alert, and see a friend's car. I stay out in the poultry yard and keep doing what I'm doing. :gig
I got that a lot when I was in grad school. Good for you for having strong boundaries. I love entertaining and try to make people feel at home but I don't like unannounced visits. I usually have straw in my hair and look like Medusa.

All right, I go to bed, and then off to work, and zillions of posts later, people are still discussing 'retirement'! Tomorrow is another work day, fun in the big city again, and then nearly no work days the rest of the year. Good! Too much in October, ready to 'retire' yet again.
And the most recent co-worker, unvaccinated, is back from having a very unpleasant C-19 experience. "Didn't think it was going to be so bad"! Amazing! Fortunately not hospitalized, and doing okay finally. Actually it's hard to be real sympathetic, sorry.

Yeah not the helpful kind...Type of friend that just talks and talks and talks, 4 hrs later they are looking for dinner. LOL 😂
Reminds me of how my BIL dealt with such a "friend." After feeding him yet again, he set the dinner plates on the floor and let the dog lick them. Then he picked them up and casually stacked them in the cupboard as if they were clean, while still conversing with his guest. Says the guy never came back at dinner time again.
