I thought about my choice of words after so I apologize if I inferred that retired = sedentary. That was my intention and I hope you will forgive me.

I have furry, feathered and hooved overlords that I care for so I can imagine some of what your list entails. Counseling doesn't feel like work, I'm blessed after many wrong turns to find something I love and that I'm good at.

You'd be surprised how many people think that since I'm retired I have nothing to do. They think they can call for me to come right away and do whatever, or they can drop in.
I've been out with the poultry, hear a stranger danger alert, and see a friend's car. I stay out in the poultry yard and keep doing what I'm doing.

Not necessary. The brain-fart with respect to language skills was mine, not yours. It’s all good.

Yep, overlords is an excellent word for the relationship.

The “work” I do now is what I love. The other was a paycheck job that made it possible for me to be here. I’m good with that.

I kinda figured that was going to be my retirement plan as well. But in order to get a company to "buy" the one I worked for (ie GIVING them money to take it) they "right-sized" a bunch of people out the door.

DD2 was a Junior in HS. I interviewed a few places, world's worst interviewer, and no one is really interested in hiring old people anyway.

A lot of part-time truck drivers are retired. Want to work a couple days a week but will help out more when necessary.
Have had many times a older driver tell me the difference between part time and full time "full timers get days off!"...

DH and I just got our Moderna boosters. Still gonna mask, though. Heard there is yet another variant raising its ugly head in a few states. Delta-A or some such? Don't know anything about it though.

Delta Plus. My understanding is it shouldn't be an issue for the vax'd and boosted. It's 10x more transmissible but so far doesn't cause worse illness than delta.

I haven't retired, I just didn't have time to work anymore d/t those "come right away" calls. The second I have the opportunity, I'm hanging out at the coop.
