I personally like the masks.

It keeps my nose warm and....
I've enjoy mouthing cuss words that no one can see
Ha! Indeed! I have worn them on winter hikes, myself. I'm sure passers-by thought I was nuts for wearing a mask, while outside, alone. I felt compelled to explain a couple times, and they agreed - masks definitely keep the nose warmer!

"There's no evidence that povidone iodine [Betadine] has any impact on COVID-19... it was found to only reduce the amount of virus in a person's nose when they're already infected with COVID-19."

Well, duh, if you only look at people who already had covid before they started then you can only find what happens when it is used by people who were already infected.

Moving on
"...And the JAMA study wasn't the only one to look at povidone iodine (though it was the only one to look at its effect in actual humans) ...Another earlier JAMA study also found povidone iodine to be effective against the SARS-CoV-2 virus—but only in a lab setting. ..."

Of course it would be found to be effective "only in a lab setting" if that was the only place it was looked for. Besides, of course, the one study that looked at humans and found it reduced the amount of virus.

And the dangers. Swallowing it can cause problems. High doses can cause problems.

So dilute it 2tsp to 6 oz, don't swallow it, and rinse after.

Oh. And don't sue the company that makes Betadine (or booze), if you get sick anyway.

Got it.

Edit for spelling as first edit didn't seem to stick

If you'd like to try a nice, soothing nasal spray that, with regular use, helps moisten and cleanse the nasal cavities (which is helpful, overall, in reducing bacteria), get some XLear nasal spray. It can be used as often as desired. Standard, non-symptomatic use is 2x daily.
Another very helpful treatment for sinus or cold sufferers that I think could be an option is Navage. It takes a bit of practice, but works as advertised

Or a Neto pot! Simpler and cheaper yet are the little bulb syringes they sell at drug stores in the infant section. A little salt dissolved in some tepid water with just a pinch of baking soda.

I use to laugh at people (seemingly alone) in their cars wearing a mask but now, I am that people

Betadine, and any iodine type product, damages cells it contacts, and would mess up the normal flora in your mouth too. Not something to do frequently! And there's nothing like having an orange mouth!
Better tasting, how about rinsing with booze? And of course, don't swallow...
Wearing a N95 face mask makes all that unnecessary anyway.

Not if you touch it.
