but we had fun with the mercury!
Sure did! Big balls pressed into teeny balls, coaxed back together into big ones. Yep, fun.

:lau :lau :lau As a Gen Z’er reading these “mercury was so fun to play with” posts I’m over here like
Well we didn't know any better did we! Now you know why all us old people are so weird ;)

I still have one old mercury thermometer. It works wether I can find batteries for the electronic ones or not. But if it ever does break, I probably won't play with the mercury.

Every few years, a 'safe' product is labeled 'unsafe'!
And sometimes "unsafe" stuff becomes the better option. Butter for one. I was raised on Imperial margarine but I've used nothing but real butter since I graduated college and moved to VT.

I personally like playing with cornstarch and water.
OK, that is pretty cool! And a lot safer than mercury.

I plan to quit by the end of the year or when I run out. Which ever is first.
:thumbsup

Nicotine may well be most addictive substance known to man. In my ignorant opinion.
Not ignorant! If it isn't the most addictive it is the most addictive thing that is legal and easy to get. There IS a reason they pack those vape pods with nicotine, it isn't like it NEEDS to be in there.

I'm about 15 lbs away from being a healthy weight for my height.
Congrats!

I've never been so glad to see a thread veer so off course if you stopped in it's unrecognizable as this, :yesss: so personal, none of us ' perfect '
Here we are, ' humanity ' .
Some of you cracking me up funny, some serious on your own issues we all deal with and some of you all just relating the same.

Mercury, Lol, lead paint
Reminds me of a song, heard it at our local county fair he played there, was popular then, played as opener for some big names , and then yrs later heard him at another county fair.... made full circle .
Rode into our little county fair on a Harley him and his brother right up to the stage it was pretty cool.

I still use a mercury thermostat...
Realized I had one when a kid broke a wire to it yrs ago, I reattached wire and had to lower thermostat, and it didn't work right after.
Took it apart and realized it was because I didn't remount it level, had a mercury glass bulb , has to be level to work right. Furnace kicks on perfectly ever since .
