Tornados hit Amazon last very close to me. All safe at my place. Watched news last night as they worked to rescue people. I noticed everyone wasn't wearing mask.

In medicine we have a saying, "What's going to kill them first."
After Hurricane IDA I can assure you mask weren't a priority on the bayou and infection rates plummeted, not increased.

My understanding is that first responders are supposed to wear masks at least in illinois. Maybe because they were outdoors they didnt have to?

Yes.
I was however thinking more of them would have worn them. Two years of everyday putting on a mask every time you get out of your vehicle. You do it without thinking by now.
I think they are very courageous people just want them to be safe for themselves also.

many people haven’t worn masks since vaccines became widely prevalent.

i haven’t worn a mask in months except for in a few places that i absolutely needed to be that required one.

emergency responders are working outdoors, i don’t see a real need for a mask in that situation.

agreed. it seems that when this thread veers into conversations about vaccines, it’s very quickly steered back “on topic”

no need to apologize. that wasn’t the point of my comment.

i just think the thread should be afforded the same latitude to topics that are actually tangentially related to covid, like vaccines.

This happens with most threads that get this long. As long as no one is arguing I dont see an issue with it. The vaccines are a touchy subject for a lot of people and its lead to big disagreements. As long as we are discussing our daily lives during covid I believe we are still on topic
