Little covid rant on the test kits...
"NY Gov. Hochul pushes millions of COVID test kits for schools to keep kids in classrooms"
"It's our responsibility to supply as many of our districts as we possibly can so that they can supply as many kids as they possibly can with kits. So I just wanted to reiterate some of the numbers - it's about 6 million tests - three million kits that will go out this week."
That's to the 731 school districts across the state."
(we didn't bother picking any up because twenty mile round trip and didn't figure we needed them beings all of us recently had covid)
To add to that NY now accepts home test positives for their covid tracking #s, don't have to go get a 'official' test after anymore.
One of our daughters didn't feel good stayed home from school mon tue wed, went to school all day thur no prob (pretty sure she was just having anxiety about a teacher she doesn't like).
Yesterday they call her to nurses office first thing, question her about why she stayed home beginning of the week. She told them she had a headache those days.
Welp we get a call to come pick her up because 'symptom' of covid and can't come back to school until negative covid test....
DW asks if she can just use one of the covid test kits the school is distributing. "We don't accept that, you have to go to a doctor or testing site"
DW asks then why do you have them? "just for parents peace of mind" nurse says.
I say that doesn't even make sense, I look it up on NY.gov and see it does say some schools and businesses may not accept them. DW says maybe they want it in a 'controlled environment'
Yeah, we go to a Walgreens, drive through, she sticks it up her nose herself in our car and hand it back to them, real 'controlled environment'.
So if any of you all are upset about not being able to find test kits, thank Govt for cornering the market on them distributing them to people who may not even need them, and to people that they don't even count have to go get another 'official one'.
That and Govt being asleep at the wheel not ramping up testing, instead relying on vaccination to stop covid and just now figuring out vaccinated, vaccinated with booster, still get covid.
