Will somebody, anybody, PLEASE tell me why people are hoarding toilet paper. I can see piling up foodstuffs. I do the same thing because I don't like to shop so I do so as seldom as possible. But why toilet paper? I have seen carts piled to the brim with rolls of toilet paper, bottles of water, and paper towels but very little in the way of food. When I went to the grocery store a few days ago, the paper towels, toilet paper, and cleaning supplies were all but gone but there was plenty of foods of all kinds. I an hoping someone can explain it to me. I don't get it.
According to "The Experts," it's an all-too-human reaction to feeling out of control. The stack of white rolls makes us feel like we have a little control when there isn't any. We see the same thing around here for snow ... ANY amount of snow ...

I have a horrible virus....I can't sleep alone, so I go in the coop at night and snatch one of my tame hens to spend the night with me. call it a feathered bed warmer. And by the way, she never argues, or says "I have a headache" "I have to pee" "can I have a new car?"..The hen just snuggles and sleeps. What more can a man ask for?
But when it's time to get up in the morning ... you are still Hen-Pecked!

The collapse of our entire infrastructure (i.e. roads, water and sewer systems, etc.) are likely not going to collapse from a global pandemic. That is of course as long as we have PEOPLE to keep things going. I just can't wrap my head around someone that loves an institution more than fellow humans. I guess I missed out on that day of school when that was taught. Perhaps I'm doomed! I'm done now, crawling back in to my safe little bubble.

The economy is not an institution. It's commercial interactions based on trust. As the trust goes, so goes the economy.

Be careful with generalizations. And please don't post a list of where drugs come from, that would be really boring and a waste of time. If we all want to know, we can look it up for ourselves.

Virtually all pharmaceutical ingredients come from China. Hopefully, the government will start to address that risk to national security.

I have to admit that yes I’ve become a bit panicked by this situation. The escalation of hoarding and closures etc have the potential to make my life very difficult! I have always purchased my supplies/groceries etc by the week to month in a JIT fashion. I was astonished this week as my grocery order pick-up was delayed by 2 days and I still don’t know how many items may be out-of-stock. There was a “run” on our local butcher shop yesterday which prevented me from placing my usual monthly package order. We spent yesterday grinding and processing the remainder of our venison and i am thankful that I have a backyard full of ready to process meat! This type of panick, however, tends to foster thievery and increase in crime! that has become more of an immediate concern to me than the possibility of running out of tp. I have to go out again today to run the remainder of my “Friday” errands which includes feed run and grocery pick-up. will see how things go!! (as there have even been rumors of ppl hoarding dog food in case of an apocalyptic food shortage!)
