I'm there! My parents are willing to help, but they have long-term health issues that mandate their staying totally isolated. Luckily, my children are now old enough to understand and help. If this had happened five years ago, I would have been LOST!
My neighbors have a blended family of seven school-aged children. Mom had to leave work when schools shut down. We're all sharing what we can. That's the real beauty of small-town living. When push comes to shove, there's someone there to block your fall!

Yeah my mind headed to when my kids were grade school age....and if this had happened then.
We just set out a big jigsaw puzzle ... all over the dining room table. It didn't start out that way ... but we have cats who simply INSIST on helping! ARGGHH!

So it has evolved.....into hide and seek....with the time limit of how ever long it takes a cat to destroy a puzzle piece?
:lau

Probably still time. Need some suggestions? I have QUITE a few...!

Your local game stores will thank you for the purchase too. They're struggling right now. Most of them rely on large event for their income.
There are lots of "Learn to Knit" videos on YouTube, and you don't even need knitting needles. Chopsticks (sanded smooth) or pencils work just as well. No yarn? You can either unravel an old sweater or scarf. Once it's unwound, rinse it gently in warm water to get rid of the kinks and let it dry. No old yarn to recycle? Look up how to make "plarn." You make it from old plastic grocery bags. It's cheap, it's easy, and after buying all of that extra toilet paper, we all have lots of plastic laying around, just waiting for recycling. Plarn makes an awesome mud-room rug - sturdy and yes, wash/dryable. And you don't need a fancy pattern, either, just make a big square, rectangle or circle. Who cares if it has mistakes? It's a plastic, recyclable mud-scraper!

The cats don't destroy them. They chase them around the floor and hide them for the dog ... who eats them upon first-contact!

On a separate subject, I have a question about the closing down of schools. Don't get me wrong, I understand the need for it and support it. It's the logistics that confuse me. The working parents of school children need care for their kids and I get that too. So arrangements have to be made. So ... what? Day care has to be provided? And then these kids are going to be back in crowded environments .... just like schols? So... what's been gained?

Hate to say it but in my area, the kids are just running around in packs between their respective homes, so they're basically spreading anything they might have all over the neighborhood.

And I also want to give a shout out to anyone who works in the delivery business, groceries, pharmacies, etc... Just everyday people doing everyday things that allow people to keep living despite being locked down. Despite all the craziness I see the folks at my local stores working hard to keep shelves stocked, answering questions, and cleaning. And they're doing it calmly and pleasantly as possible. I'd be completely insane if someone asked me for the 100th time that hour if there was going to be more toilet paper soon.

And don't forget the farmers! I'm guessing that not a single farm will shut down due to corona virus. Cows will still be milked. Livestock will be fed and cared for, crops will be planted and soil will be tended. God Bless the Farmer!
