And gotta respect your kind of preparation, organization and determination to avoid this virus. No kidding! There should be an award for you guys who have it all together without being some sort of paranoid prepper!
Thanks.
I always wonder where I fall......
Prepared but not a prepper? Homesteader but not hardcore?
LOL

I think it stems from hating to throw away good food. Early on I taught myself to can, make jams and spreads, and I bought a food dehydrator. Best. Invention. Ever.
I've dried foods one could never imagine, made our own fruit roll ups, used it to preserve fruits and veggies for wreath and decorative purposes (which I've been able to sell) dried fruits for later use in jams, pies, and desserts, dry my herbs, and have more dried zucchini, kale, carrots, pumpkin, tomatoes, apples, broccoli, herbs, and swiss chard than one can shake a stick at. Tomato leather is as tasty as apple leather!

Dining may not be exciting for a while, but we'll never go hungry.

I agree! On both counts.

My habit -- pre-Corona, that is -- was to shop every day. Probably at 2-3 stores for just the right thing. I like fresh food and I don't have all that much storage room. ...and I'm retired so I could do that.

I've been able to modify to go 5 or 6 days before I really need things. And I'll try even harder. But this really runs counter to habits of a long lifetime.

OTOH, I haven't turned the news on yet but I've heard a rumor that the West Coast may be ready to turn the apex and hit the down slope. Of course, that comes with its own warning not to disregard the Safer at Home protocols. Still, one day I may be able to get the haircut I've needed for 3 weeks and see my friends who evacuated from Europe and were supposed to be living with us now. ...before my daughter announced that absolutely and positively VERBOTEN.
We used to go every week, we like fresh too. Usually to 3 stores for the right thing, glad it's not just me!
I'm on a news blackout today. I watched the local stuff to see the weather and then turned it off.

Where in VA are you? Maybe we are neighbors! I live near Chatham.
A few hours west of you, in the mountains. Neghbors-ish. :D
And small small world...I used to travel up and down 29 all the time from SC to NOVA. I'd always stop somewhere near Danville for gas.

Are you hatching during all of this? (You probably have already said, but you know...742 pages...I'm drawing a blank. )

That's awesome you've been able to avoid the stores! I haven't been able to avoid shopping for that long, mostly because we need milk about once a week for the kids. Once we get that we do a quick walk through the store looking for TP and other stuff we might need soon. If we see it we get it because it's often not available the next tome.
I guess that's probably one good thing from kiddo's dairy allergy.
Our alternative milks cost more, but stay good in the fridge for like forever, even after opened, so the last time I did shop I stocked up. I am bummed we can't buy powdered milk for cooking or baking, but I can get shelf stable almond milk cartons to have on hand for when the cold cartons run out.
Thankfully we still have enough TP and PT.

My favorite is hickory smoked, Black Label regular cut. And come on now, you know I've admitted to being a "food hoarder." LOL! I'm usually well stocked with meat, bacon, flour, chocolate and coffee. I've never considered hoarding TP until now. Who knew? But it's now on the list if I can ever find some again. :lau

Can you freeze bacon?
