Can't find hand sanitizers anywhere. Target had a sign that you could only buy so many BUT
all the shelves there were empty.

Got toilet paper (extra) which don't really need, have a large pkg not opened - bought it b-4 Xmas.

Dollar Tree - cleaned out, couldn't find any similar products at Wally or Tarzhay, for cleaning hands. But, they had something to wipe down tables etc. I got a couple packets of those. They don't sound user friendly. Label says after use, thoroughly scrub down area, used on

The senior bus transportation dispatcher told me buses all have face masks if needed.

I have found most of our seniors do not get flu shots, some don't even see doctors or dentists. Honestly they pull their own teeth - diagnose themselves and treat with OTC products - not knowing what they really have.

The seniors live on a budgeted income. After they pay the bills there's not much.

How would people feed their livestock? Or, are they just switching to pick up orders only?

The guy behind me in line asked will you allow pick up or deliver? And the response was at the present time we do not have that capability. Mind you this is still all at the RUMOR level.

I know this is a silly thing to "complain" about amidst all this craziness (but I figure that's what this thread is for) but I got a call from my sis-in-law and found out she was planning to run to the courthouse this week to marry her fiance. She's not sure now if that'll even be possible. She was supposed to get married this summer but they decided to postpone the wedding, so they figured get married now and have the ceremony later, but they might not even be able to get a courthouse wedding until later as well.

😔 My local store. Managed to get a handful of random food items, nothing to make a meal out of.

Wow, you "win." :( Most of the times when ppl post that their stores are empty, there's still quite a lot of stuff, just not the staples people are hoping to get.

Hey there's still onions! Uh... creamed onions? Some mystery meat in photo 2? Could make some sort of stew...

but women need something more! I’m old enough to know about cloths, so I survived. But people that need to buy up feminine hygiene need to have surgery!

Sometimes I'm grateful for living in a retirement area (at least half my neighbors are retirees)... absolutely no shortage of feminine hygiene products!

I told my beagle last night that she's lucky because she doesn't have to worry about all this. She has toys, food, water, and a warm bed... Not a care in the world. And us humans can't even find TP or groceries at the store

Is this where I admit I even use TP on my dogs?

Does this mean postponing getting chickens for those of us planning to get chicks this spring?

You'd have to call your individual store to ask. Even if they are available, I'd advise you think over if it's a good idea or not based on feed supply and availability of other supplies you might need.

If you’re out of beans make pasta. All you need is fresh eggs and flour. Just a thought.

And if you're out of pasta make polenta. Tastes great with almost any red pasta sauce or chili or meatballs. I had no issue getting a big bag of cornmeal while other people crowded the pasta section.

If you can't get potatoes try other root veggies - I mash carrots, kohlrabi, turnips. Parsnips make nice sweet oven fries. Turnips and rutabaga work well in stews. Beets and yams make a tasty hash.

I rarely eat bread so not helpful on that front...

Is anybody concerned about long-term food shortages? Is there any evidence that might be a problem in the future?

How concerned should we be about food supplies? The shelves are only empty now because people are trying to stock up to prepare in case of quarantine, right?

Currently people are in a buying frenzy in order to hide out at home for as long as possible. Store shelves are going to continue to look empty until they can restock more than people are buying.

Obviously this will vary by area but... we're at 3 weeks of lockdown here at ground zero and other than some very specific items like paper products, sanitizers, some frozen food... all 3 stores I've checked this week are decently well stocked and I was able to get everything on my list, even down to being nitpicky about can sizes and such.
