... And then got spread around because they brought staff from different care facilities to help out, and then the staff went back to their own facilities...

Oops! Easy to see -- in hindsight -- how that accelerated the spread!

Still, FL is the spot to watch next, I fear.

Not a big surprise given a lot of care facilities are understaffed, plus I believe the one that "started it all" was specifically not just seniors, but seniors with health issues - folks waiting for surgery, recovering from surgery. I haven't seen mention of the other facilities having nearly the same rate of deaths as the original one.

This is the most accurate information for the semi autonomous region of Spain I live in.

That's a shame. Apparently you can't view many European sites in China as well.
Makes a bit of a nonsense of the web address www.*** (World Wide Web).
I can see it.

The problem IMO is the media's hyping it up like crazy, and people latch onto it and join in the frenzy. Obviously when an entire nursing home is on lock down, or the NBA is suspending games the rest of the season, that's big juicy news. My mother doesn't even live in the US but she's been sending me news links for my area daily, as she's convinced I'm on the verge of dying because I haven't yet locked myself in an underground bunker with the chickens and a 2 year supply of canned beans.

Meanwhile thousands of people die each year from the flu...

Best toilet paper "ad" I've gotten so far is a company promising a free roll of toilet paper if you act now to reserve a slot for pressure washing.

Except there's no rubbing alcohol available either. And many sources have said that homemade sanitizer is not the same as the actual thing.

I don't trust sanitizers anyhow. Handwashing is far better, gets germs, dirt, grime, grease all at the same time.

If you wash your hands for one (1) minute you get all the germs off except for normal flora.

Amen. It was when I was leaving the cooler with the eggs on their doorstep that I was told about the "yard eggs" not being appreciated, however, but they did want the ham, beans, flour and such.... Yes, they spelled out what they wanted, then asked for syrup and butter.
My neighbors aren't quite that bad, but I did get the third degree once when I gave them eggs (free) that were mostly brown instead of blue because my blue layers happened to be going into molt. She never raised chickens but lectured me on the quality because of something her favorite celebrity chef had once said about blue eggs. When I nicely explained about the impact of a bird's living conditions, diet, and giving quality feed she started arguing with me.

Up to that point I had given them many many eggs, though mostly blue. Now I have only 1 blue layer so I don't feel bad for not offering them my inferior eggs anymore.

I don't get people who accept free food... with a caveat. It's like, do you want it or not?

https://www.mercurynews.com/2020/03...e-essential-businesses-in-san-jose-city-says/"Although San Jose dispensaries were serving both recreational and medical customers on Tuesday, Santa Clara County Counsel James Williams said in a statement that dispensaries could only stay open as essential businesses “for medical purposes, not recreational.”

Williams could not be reached to further elaborate on the county’s stance.

Officials in Santa Cruz County announced that they allowing cannabis dispensaries to continue operating via delivery or pickup, but that customers will be prohibited from gathering in a store, according to the county’s website.

In San Francisco, however, cannabis companies were told they would need to temporarily shut down their businesses Tuesday morning. By Tuesday evening, however, the city health department had apparently changed its mind.

“Cannabis is an essential medicine for many San Francisco residents, the agency said in a statement. “Dispensaries can continue to operate as essential businesses during this time, while practicing social distancing and other public health recommendations.”
