For me.....

It doesn't matter where it came from. It is here. It can be deadly. There is no vaccine. It is evolving.
If social distancing, self quarantine, and staying home if possible can slow this disease while people are working feverishly to figure it was out I am all for it. A little distance from others is NOT deadly or even going to make anyone sick.

Why in tarnation is anyone not doing those things?

One key phrase : It is evolving.

It came from fear and initially lack of a common name, from folks of both political leanings. People heard it came from Wuhan before being labeled Neo Corvid-19. I never saw Wuhan flu on any major media outlet, only word of mouth.

You must have not been watching the press conferences. Again today it was referred to as the 'Chinese flu' multiple times.

Yes, but people are overly sensitive about many things nowadays, so it seems.
Perhaps. But we shouldn’t lose any sleep over that. It is what it is. If people get comfort from a little hoarding, then so be it. It too soon will pass. How are you doing these days? Your Governor is on NECN right now.

I'm certainly not advocating the use of a term intended to ascribe blame for a biological phenomenon. Someone asked what it meant when someone else used the term. I simply tried to explain what it meant and where it had come from.
People are finding any reason to make things political nowadays. You shouldn’t have to explain yourself.

Only if you let it. I think being overly sensitive to semantics is a bit childish. But that’s probably because I’m just a stupid old woman.

Not so stupid, kiddo! :love I think you make a lot of sense and provide a lot of proportion.

Hey! On another topic and for what it's worth, people in my neighborhood have begun putting up Christmas lights as a sign of solidarity and encouragement for one another.

It's really been cool in my big, fast urban neighborhood to read all the offers to do grocery shopping and errands for anyone who need assistance. A group in a nearby neighborhood did an impromptu concert for anyone who wanted to listen. Kids -- we never see the kids in my neighborhood! -- are out riding bikes and skating.

It's not all bad!

Great idea!💡 I can put candles in my windows and let Santa out of the basement.
