I mean there's no evidence for it at all. In fact it was found naturally in a species of bats living in the countryside. And so have literally dozens of other species of coronavirus. It's actually been a big deal for a long time. The SARS 2008 virus came from the same place, had its most serious effects in China, and then got isolated before it could reach us.

I've recovered from my rant now. Yes we can still get deliveries. One of my neighbors works for UPS and he still goes to work every day. I've already ordered a few things from Amazon and they keep on delivering. I get mail everyday as usual. While surfing the net looking for what is available to order online for home delivery, I found a liquor store that makes deliveries. I may try that out just for a hoot. Beats the heck out of pizza! LOL! I just got off the phone with one of the folks at the feed store I shop at (not TSC), and she said there was a town meeting and the feed store was designated as an essential business. However, they are limiting how many customers can be in the store. They are still having their "chick days" but after confirming my order she warned me that people were buying LOTS of chickens. So if I wanted more than four I needed to order them now. She also mentioned that baby chicks and vegetable seeds were selling like crazy. Well, it is Armageddon isn't it? One important thing for me because I'm a sickly old woman: if I really need anything, they will make sure I can get it safely. Now that's customer service and not anything you will get from TSC. I do feel a bit guilty, because with all the food in my freezer and canned goods in the basement, I ran out of pork and I'm sooo craving ribs. :idunno

And, half the national cases of this are centered in one area of Washington State, that right there is rather interesting, however it seems to rarely if ever be mentioned.

Same with New York's cases, but that's likely because they had a point of origin (WA care home, NY attorney and his family) and tested outwards from there.

H1N1 was far more potent, and store shelves never emptied, places never closed. Not cavalier, just not living by what ifs and fear.;) Fear is what is causing all the TP hoarding, which is now traveling to other areas like meats and dairy.

The death rate for H1N1 was 0.02%

For Covid-19 globally it is currently estimated at 3.4% but for some countries it's as low as 0.4%. Still a big difference.

Ahh, yes. Lets look at those numbers than. So that .002% for H1N1...the lowest estimate for deaths hovered around 150,000 from a low estimate of 700 million infected in only 1.5 years. High estimates are 575,000 from 1.4 billion infections. So, those are rather huge numbers, especially as the population has grown ever larger since 2009-2010. Right now, Covid as of today sits at 240k ish cases and 9.9k deaths with over 80k recovered. With H1N1, it spread globally yet travel never shut down to this level, and folks did not stockpile as if we were in the End of Days. Doesn't that just seem...odd?

Conspiracy theories are just plain fear mongering. I'm sorry, whatever happened to the PROVEN theory that SH** Happens! There are so many things in the world that can't always be explained by this or that. Looking for nefarious causes is wasting time you could be using doing something productive, like spending quality time with your family, chickens or planning / planting your garden. Just a thought.

For your last comment: people are reacting like it's Armageddon because they are foolish and likely spend too much time getting their information from unreliable sources. Just a thought. And to someone who is caught up in the "thralls" of the coronavirus and fighting to breathe, I doubt very seriously whether they care that some people think H1N1 was worse.
